Shortly after he would release his finest album, Hunky Dory, thereby enriching my life for all time.

Thank sincerely, Mr. Jones.

Have you seen the pants young'uns wear this decade? At least you can't see his anus.

I can't find it, but he appeared on TV earlier than this. He didn't PERFORM, but he was on TV as a fan of another act. I wish I could find the black & white clip I'm talking about.

The first concert I ever saw was David Bowie, in Kansas City, 1972. He was backed up by a then-unknown band by the name of Styx.

He looked like he should have been rotoscoped into Yellow Submarine.

He had to have been as old as those American Idol twerps in this video.

See the difference between a real star and some reality TV creation?

Correct, he was 23. Birthdate 8 Jan, 1947. Same day as Elvis.

/got it from IMDB

Sucks that his band wasn't onstage. It's pretty cool to see, though - the dude just walks out like he owns the place.

Sorry, Kid Moe. Hunky Dory is a better record, IMHO.

Guess we'll have to agree to disagree. Jerk.

I'm starting to think Outside may be his best.

/I bet in 10 years it is hailed as a masterpiece.

farkplug 2008-03-09 08:52:40 PM
that was great

Good times. Men were so secure in their manlihood that they could wear long curly hairdos and pink pants and flowery shirts (see also: Robert Plant). Bring back the flower people!

Hunky Dory
is #1 in my books. Outside is great, too. It's under-rated, as is Hours and Earthling.

Tempo was a bit fast, but what a great song/singer.

Bowie's great.

Those English announcers tho....ZZZzzz... lmao
