FTA: "The past few weeks have been so dry that most of the nation's toads, recently roused from hibernation, have been unable to make their annual pilgrimage to their mating ponds."

Not trying to troll, but I'll be damned if "Fark posters" (myself included, I suppose) didn't come to mind when I read the phrase: "unable to make their annual pilgrimage to their mating ponds".

Oops.

I'm supposed to be flying from England to Ireland on Monday morning for my weekly commute.

I may be spending a few hours in the departure lounge.

1 millibar every hour for 24 hours?
Journalist must've not taken a look at a barometer, considering there is generally about 1,000 millibars fluctuation between good and bad weather.
/either that or they're utter pansies about weather.
//What's the weather today guv'nor? Rainier than usual!
///and tommorrow? A drought! No rain for 24 hours!

Let me FTFY:

Like a million kebabs scattered across the pavement

Like a million Burberry baseball caps stuck in trees

Like a million mechanical apologies for "delay this may cause" on the railways

Like a million people complaining they can't watch "Sky Dinosaurs & Nazis Channel" because the wind twisted their satellite dish out of alignment

I hope this storm filled out an SF-986 and had it properly authorized by the Bureau of Storms and Natural Disasters's Office of Abnormal Meteorological Events. If not, it could be subject to a warning (if this is its first offense).

Robobuu 2008-03-08 05:20:48 PM
Am I the only one who read that as "expletive storm?" I was thinking "How the hell can shiat like that be organised? And who the fark would give a damn and be pissed off by something like that?"

Don't you realize what this means?! It's CLIMATE CHANGE!!! AHhhhhh! Everyone panic! This is the worst storm EVER and we caused it OURSELVES! Think of the toads, people! (What? This is good for the toads? Oh. Umm...) Think of the power going out at your favorite pub! Run for your lives! And try not to track any mud or carbon on the rug. Carbon footprints are a biatch to get out of the carpet.

I guess we'll see if the folks running the airports in England are smarter than the folks running airports in Germany: remember that idiot trying to land the plane in gale-force winds last week that scraped his wingtip before doing a go-around?

Air Traffic Controller: "I say, old chap, the runway is most assuredly closed. It's due to the tremendous winds, you see. We can't have airliners blowing all about the aerodrome, naturally. I'm sure you understand. Ever so sorry for any inconvenience. Cheerio! Pip-pip!"

However, I'm due to go back home to the NorthWest on Tuesday morning.. camera at the ready for this 'non-event' weather and it's alleged 'aftermath' (we will be going across the M62 for the heck of it btw)...
