...So, after reading the article, I gather that she may sue just because...she's mad? Is that really it?

Why not just give it back to mexico?

Basically. You know these crazy Texas elections make grown men cry.

I would make a joke relating to Mrs. Clinton's gender, but that would be sexist on my part, and so I will not make a joke about the fact that Hillary is a she-man. I won't.

Well, you probably should feel free to make jokes. She's the one who said the Texas primaries were confusing and that they made grown men cry.

I understand Hillary Clinton's position. Lots of times, I go to casinos and, after losing lots of money, I start throwing a fit that the games, which I agreed to play and understood the rules for in advance, were fixed and biased against me.

Empanda 2008-03-08 10:53:31 AM
CalvinMorallis: In all seriousness, though, what her grounds for such a suit be?

I can't imagine. It's not like the rules were changed part way through. Unless she plans on someone claiming that they must have been rigged somehow.

CalvinMorallis 2008-03-08 10:56:33 AM
That's what really bugs me. All over CNN, MSNBC, the national papers...everyone's talking about the possibility of her suing.

But not a single news outlet, that I've come across anyway, has done even a single story along the lines of: "There is no legal basis for filing a lawsuit in this matter."

Hey Empanda! I'm suing you! Why? I dunno, but you'll sure as hell hear from my attorney!

Empanda 2008-03-08 10:56:47 AM

From an article on MSNBC:

Clinton was asked to explain to the press how Texas' delegate allocation worked. Her response: "I have no idea. I mean, I've got people trying to understand it as we speak...Grown men are crying over trying to understand it," she joked. "I had no idea how bizarre it was until, you know, we had to start figuring it out."

I was being a bit snarky, but she provided the fodder.

This is America!! Since when do you need a reason to sue someone here? Burying someone under crushing litigation is practically the national sport.

Well, she might leave the state with less delegates than Obama. She's the anointed one. What more proof do you need?

/My Clinton-like logic. Let me show you it.

CalvinMorallis 2008-03-08 10:59:36 AM
You'd expect better from a presidential candidate, though....even that one

Empanda: Her response: "I have no idea. I mean, I've got people trying to understand it as we speak...Grown men are crying over trying to understand it," she joked.

And, as we all know, if grown men can't figure something out, Hillary Clinton, a woman, has absolutely no chance to figure it out.

Also, it's so confusing that men are expressing emotion over it. That must be REALLY confusing since men have absolutely no emotions.

How's that breaking-gender-stereotypes campaign working out for you, Hillary?

I live in West Virginia, so I get to be all sunshine and rainbows till May...when she beats Obama here by 15-20 points. Most of our superdels, though, are committing to him, except for Byrd, who's still uncommitted (though I'm pretty sure he'll sign on for Barack, as well).

Bored Horde 2008-03-08 12:35:20 PM
So basically, she got plowed for organizing a Primary-heavy campaign strategy, and not organizing around the caucuses?

And you want this person to be the President?

Why the accusation that Obama is trying to 'retroactively claim victory'? He's just setting the story straight; it was the media that was wrong.

If she ends up suing, it'll probably be over something trivial, like an Obama supporter that frowned at a Clinton supporter during the caucus, blown completely out of proportion, and plastered all over the Clinton sycophantic news media. Anything to question the legitimacy of the results in Texas, and by extension, all caucuses everywhere.

So much for her pledge to not tear apart the party through legal technicalities and backroom-dealing. :/

The polls I've seen also have HUGE undecided numbers. I remember seeing Obama winning 40-25 in one poll. That's 35% who haven't decided yet.

Oh, and whenever I see Evan Bayh on TV, he is the 2nd biggest douche and political hack I've ever seen. Number one still is, and will probably always be, McAuliffe.

Now I'm getting whiplashiathought her pitch was that she paid REALLY close attention to what her husband did as president so that she's really really qualified and experienced. Now we find out that she was not paying any attention at all to the Texas primary/caucus rules after her husband ran there twice, under the same doggone rules. Guess she was too busy planning her tea and cookies menu for the Northern Irish.

Lord_Baull 2008-03-08 12:47:53 PM
This is what you get to look forward to for 4 more years if she's nominated people. Haven't you had enough of 6 years of Rovian politics?

Aar1012 [TotalFark] 2008-03-08 12:48:37 PM
DamnYankees: Pessimism, baby!

But think about it. You have two real options left over

1. She gets the nomination. You get the satisfaction of being right
2. Obama gets the nomination. You get a better outcome than expected.

That is the beauty of pessimism.

If we're measuring this by Delegates won, then Nevada isn't part of the pantsuit belt either.

So I guess by Hillary Logic, the New England Patriots won the Super Bowl?

Doc Daneeka 2008-03-08 12:48:57 PM
So let me see if I have this straight:

A) Bill Clinton said Hillary would have to drop out unless she won both Ohio and Texas.
B) Obama is currently projected to win Texas, 98-95 delegates.
C) Hillary is not dropping out of the race.
D) Ergo, Bill Clinton is a filthy, filthy liar.

Did I get that straight?

Still waiting for the media to issue corrections and retractions concerning their false "Hillary wins Texas" stories. Also waiting for them to acknowledge that Obama actually won Nevada by delegates, and that New Hampshire was really a tie.

The bias in the media in favor of Hillary this whole campaign season has been disgusting.
