Pelosi knows perfectly well which side of the bread the butter is on. Bill and Hillary lost in 1994 what was a monumentally overwhelming Democratic House majority in 1991. Bill and Hillary were the straw that broke the camel's back. There were plenty of congressional scandals and screw-ups in the preceding Congress(es) that started the ball rolling back when Bill was boring people to tears at the '88 convention. Keating Five, House bank scandal, and so forth.

All Nancy cares about is that there's somebody in the White House who'll rubber-stamp her latest idiocies -- if it blows up on her, the worst that can happen is a Republican takeover in 2010, and if that happens she'll play the "I got mine" card and retire to the speaking-fee circuit.

Pelosi is an embarrassing and pathetic failure as Speaker. Not because she's a woman, but because she spends more time undermining her fellow Democrats than she does fighting the Republicans or getting decent alternatives passed (Bush's veto be damned).

The funny thing is that you believe Farkers respect the MEN in Congress.

Really, I have more respect for Pelosi because she has earned her position without riding the coattails of her obviously more talented husband. But, let's be fair... she IS shorter than Obama or Clinton (at least in the pictures I've seen).

And that doesn't mean I think she's doing a good job... but that's another story. Not many House Speakers have done a good job recently.
