Two can play at that game. If she weasels the nomination, we could see a 3rd candidate make a bid.

The author of the article is another one of those idiots who think that the remaining undecided superdelegates overwhelmingly prefer Clinton. If they were, they would have endorsed her back when she was Mrs. Inevitable, not now that even her margin among superdelegates only is down to about 40.

This country was founded on many values including freedom of religion.
If you had read Obamas book "The Aduacity of Hope" you would know He has been a practicing christian for 15 years, and yes has studied the Muslim religion.
I believe the real enemy are people who judge others without really knowing the facts.

Does anyone recall the Whitewater Scandal where Bill & Hill scammed people out of real estate money? (Mostly seniors) Do people forget that Hillary stole $200, 000 worth of furniture and art from the White House? Is Bill the Thrill going to keep his pecker in his pocket? These are only a few of my questions.

The Repubs are hoping Hillary wins because as of right now it's the only way McCain can actually win. If she does somehow manage to ruin the Democratic Party I hope Obama does launch a third party bid. He could effectivly split maybe a quarter of the Repubs and maybe half the Dems. It could end well.

With any luck Obama will deliver her another string of defeats in the coming contests. Then all of this will be a moot point.

As for the Al Gore for president stuff, I'm against it. For one, if it would split the party to give the nomination to someone with the least pledged delegates, what would it do to give it to someone with NO pledged delegates?

I saw another article about it somewhere and it had a link to email Al gore begging him to run. I emailed him asking him not to even consider it for a second.

Gosling [TotalFark] 2008-03-07 07:38:13 PM
The decision will then fall to the superdelegates, elected officials and party people often demonized in the media as hacks or backroom operators. A majority of them will swing behind one or the other candidate-likely Hillary Clinton-

And right there is where I stopped reading because I'm better read on how the supers are leaning than she is.

Obviously they care. The problem is they sincerely believe Hillary is the only one who can possibly fix America, except for Senator McCain. They have to save America from this Hope scourge.

He would bring majority of African-American, Youth & voters generally disgusted with both parties with him & in 15 years The Dems would be a foot note in history like the Whig Party. Of course Rebublican would run the country for the next 50 years.

El Uno Magnifico 2008-03-07 08:44:53 PM
The Democrats could have won if they had only stuck behind a single candidate, presenting a united front against the Republican nominee. But they didn't; instead, the leading Democratic candidate formed his own splinter platform, and the resulting mess led to a Republican president elected with less than 50% of the popular vote.

A future forecast in 2008? Not quite. That was exactly what happened in 1860.

Not happening. He doesn't have that much cred. Besides, at his age he can sweat it and have 6 or 7 more go's at it. 08/12 are Hillary's last stand. She'd surrender to France if it meant she got to sit in the seat, it's really all she cares about. Hell, even Cheney, somewhere in that little black place he calls a soul, cares more about [what he thinks is America] than her.

Umm...not exactly the same type of situation. There's no major issue dividing the Dem party today like slavery did back then.

The point was to show how a divided party always loses. No matter if Obama wins and Clinton doesn't give him support, or vice-versa, or if Obama decides to go third party, the end result will always be a McCain victory in the fall. Taft, Roosevelt, and Wilson is another example.

DamnYankees: I feel nauseas. The fact that they openly admit they are ok with losing this election, letting the GOP win, and then winning in 4 years? Do they care about this country at all?

What they care about is the success of their New Democrat movement. The Clintons' actually don't care about, and don't really like, the Democratic Party. Their allegiance is the the Democratic Leadership Council, which has been working for years to co-opt the party for their own agenda.

It is eerily reminiscent of the way the neoconservative movement and PNAC co-opted the Republican party and its successful conservative movement a few years earlier, right down to their campaign tactics.

Neither party represents the people. I was hoping losing to Bush in 04 would tear apart the Democrat Party so that they would have to rebuild on what they originally represented (I know I can be naive).

Only several months ago, I was hoping the same would happen to the Republicans as they didn't seem to have a chance in hell in winning, but once again I see it will have to be the Dems that implode. I think a moderate middle party would take a substantial amount of people from both sides.

I still think the average moderate Republican and Democrat have more in common than their fringe extreme counterparts.

perdu: Two can play at that game. If she weasels the nomination, we could see a 3rd candidate make a bid.

Obama should just drop out and let Clinton rot in the grave she dug for herself and the party. Obama makes a 3rd party bid with a moderate republican as his VP. Bi-partisan ticket without the Clinon baggage or psychosis, nor the McCain dementia. Winner.
