DrLearned 2002-11-03 08:55:43 PM
I am not a real judge of cool, but that's COOOOOOOOL!!!!

Bacicot 2002-11-03 08:56:42 PM
Reminds me of that scene from Austin Powers where he puts the CD on the record player.

kayinetik 2002-11-03 08:57:01 PM
Stupid marketing technique.
who cares??

Dreamstate 2002-11-03 08:57:02 PM
Not to be scratched.

SpaceCoyote 2002-11-03 08:57:19 PM
Are they needle compatible?

dergrauehimmel 2002-11-03 08:57:26 PM
I'm generally not one for gimmicky bullshiat... but that's cool as hell.

Xieflow 2002-11-03 08:57:31 PM
damn... question is, how much for a box of 50?

I can get a box of uh... 50 Fujifilm CD-Rs for $13 at Best Buy, and they sometimes have a $10 mail-in-rebate (50 CD-Rs for $3 ain't bad at all)

dunkinbean 2002-11-03 08:57:35 PM
Wil said it...Best.Thing.Ever.

richbob 2002-11-03 08:57:42 PM
They look neat. I like stuff that looks neat. That is all.

Tremor Christ 2002-11-03 08:57:53 PM

And that's where you get them

Foaming [TotalFark] 2002-11-03 08:59:15 PM
Do I have to use one of those little yellow adapters to get it to play in my CD player?

rumborak2000 2002-11-03 08:59:47 PM
So, how many kids won't buy it because they don't know what it's supposed to resemble ?
I'm getting old and grumpy...

dunkinbean 2002-11-03 08:59:50 PM
Again, for the lazy.

fuzzygirl18 2002-11-03 09:02:24 PM
Thats so cute

Commodore69 2002-11-03 09:02:32 PM
Hmm, you're lagging people - it took a whole FIVE posts before some smart ass had to put down whatever subject came up.

BTW - those CDR's kick ass.

farkwicket 2002-11-03 09:04:38 PM
Dunno if it's just dumb luck (probably), but Verbatim is the only brand of blank CD-R I've never had crash during a burn.

This is one more neat-o reason to buy 'em.

Disclaimer: the poster is not an employee of or in any way affiliated with Verbatim, Inc. or any of its parent and/or children companies. All praise and lesser commentary is unsolicited, unscripted, ad hoc, spontaineous, based on personal experience, and largely irrelevant to the discussion at hand. Tastes like turkey.

Zeusgod 2002-11-03 09:05:53 PM
Ah, memories from an age I never lived in...

TheOmni [TotalFark] 2002-11-03 09:07:01 PM
Ummm...yeah, that is actually pretty neat.

Megain [TotalFark] 2002-11-03 09:07:10 PM
impress me - make'em look like 8 tracks

Commodore69 2002-11-03 09:07:55 PM
Damn you Zeusgod - you know that makes certain people feel like old farks.

*grumbles off to play 45's on turntable*

FifthColumn 2002-11-03 09:08:17 PM
If it doesn't sound like vinyl, it doesn't matter.

MightySausage 2002-11-03 09:09:10 PM
Faaaaaaaaaaaaancy.

Emron 2002-11-03 09:09:21 PM
farkwicket whats the html for small type? and this is actually the best link of the day in my opinion. which is kind of sad in a way.

Ishkur 2002-11-03 09:09:38 PM
Now CDJ's can show up all those vinyl pushers to stop hassling them for the medium they use.

Final Scratch is the future, y0.

wi99um 2002-11-03 09:10:12 PM
Hey, I'm 18 and my vinyl collection is in the 150 range. So don't say that the kids are completely inept, just the ones who watch MTV.

naked_man 2002-11-03 09:10:29 PM
I remember 45's. Those were the days. Carol Burnette, Wild Americal on the TV...dial TV's...and hookers didn't have penises!!!!

VanRoosta 2002-11-03 09:12:08 PM
Wi99um: You're well on your way to being like the guy in Ghost World!

FotH 2002-11-03 09:13:15 PM
They're selling these at Future Shop only not Verbatim, they're by e3works. I saw them there a few weeks ago actually, and was very tempted, but it was either $15 for 10 cds or $30 for 50. hmmm.

Ishkur 2002-11-03 09:13:49 PM
Actually, with the popularity of DJ culture, little kids know EXACTLY what it means and will likely get it.

Verbatim would not launch this clever marketing gimmick if they did not know that.

wi99um 2002-11-03 09:14:13 PM
That movie has caused me to search out Indian and country vinyl. But, yeah, music is my life...

FifthColumn 2002-11-03 09:14:29 PM
My favorite Vinyl I own would probably be some Heart album. I know, I'm weak. I also have a Bee Gees record and I wasn't even born in the 70s.

455H47 2002-11-03 09:14:52 PM
yeah, but are they those fancy new 7" CD-Rs???

wi99um 2002-11-03 09:15:08 PM
Hey wait a minute, that's VanRoosta, I remember you. Yo. I should visit that site some time.

Xieflow 2002-11-03 09:15:45 PM
hey... they have made 'shaped' CDs before... but Nintendo's the only company I've seen do it (a squareish Gamecube mini-CD, and they would advertise in their magazine CDs shaped liked Yoshi's head and stuff)

if they made BLANK cds like that... would be Coolest.Thing.Ever. (not just Yoshi... I'm talking any shape shaped-CD)

Hansel 2002-11-03 09:16:30 PM
anybody know where they're manufactured? japan?

SonOfSpam 2002-11-03 09:17:10 PM
Man, I love 45s. I have a bunch of 1911s including a Colt GI 45 made in 1919, a Colt Peacemaker and some Italian clones, S&W 1917s, Rugers, ....

Oh. Never mind.

bmr68 [TotalFark] 2002-11-03 09:18:03 PM

wi99um 2002-11-03 09:20:05 PM
There is this band called the Locust [and Arab on Radar] and they released a 7" that is cut larger than a 7" so it is shaped like a puddle. It comes in 5 different colors, brown, yellow, white, red, and green...or, poop, pee, semen, blood, and snot. Kind of a cool idea. It was made by Gold Standard Labs who are some of the most innovative vinyl manufacturers out there. They make rad picture discs and whatnot.

[I]Combining a retro look with the [B]rugged[/B] quality and high-performance of today's CD-R technology[/I]

Um, am I the only one who found it hilarious to see CD's called rugged in comparison to 45's?

SilentObserver 2002-11-03 09:29:18 PM
I want some of these.
