Hillary is trying to gain McCain's endorsement.

Hillary's actually really smart. If she doesn't get to be president, she doesn't want Obama to be because he'll probably be a two term-er while McCain probably would only be a one-termer. So, she'd get to run in 4 more years instead of 8. And at the end of the day, creating her "legacy" (*cough* mad power grab) is what's most important to her.

adiabat [TotalFark] 2008-03-07 12:40:32 PM
Last weekend my 10 year old daughter asked me why John McCain was on a TV commercial for Hillary.

I had to explain that it was John Glenn endorsing Hillary, not John McCain.

Those Mindless Republicans are now forcing the Dems to hemorrage $$.

So? It's the primary cycle - the nominee can then do fresh fundraising for the general election, and if it's Obama, that shouldn't be a problem. In fact, it'll be a strength.

I wouldn't say "mindless," but the word "scared" seems to fit pretty well.

In 4 more years her Senate seat comes up and her bid for the Presidency becomes an up-or-out proposition: she gets the nomination and loses the general, she's out of Washington entirely. She'll have to weigh the consequences of that before she gives it another go.

That and the fact that this campaign may still be fresh in everyone's minds in 2012 and people are going to remember what kind of campaign she ran.

Beachcomber 2008-03-07 12:58:12 PM
If Hillary wins the nom and then, somehow, the election, I am going to laugh and laugh and laugh at the republicans who voted for her in an attempt to screw the democrats. Then I will cry.

I believe that this is her plan.

She is incorrect that.

If she continues on this salt the earth strategy she will never be the democratic nominee again. She will be rejected by the party, I promise.

(Not to mention, if she succeeds in making a black man lose the election, the Dems in 2012 are not going to nominate a woman. They will pick the safest candidate possible after 12 years out of office)

Mindless is anyone who votes for someone they loathe and risks putting that person in the white house. America is this close to being free of Clintonism, and the republicans voting Clinton are risking their own worst nightmare "President Hillary Clinton."

Any republican considering "strategic voting" over the next few contests needs to step into the booth and say those words aloud - "President Hillary Clinton" before deciding to cast that vote. If you can do that, then your soul has long been sucked dry.

Your newspaper will look like this for the next month

Front page: Obama and Hillary locked in life or death struggle! 24 hour news stations hiring drunken hobos to fill your every waking hour with analysis of the race!

Page C-17: John McCain: Still running for president

Word. By the time the Democratic candidate is decided we are all going to want to know who that crazy old guy is, and why they are letting him talk.

it's got little to do with "democrats" and everything to do with a political couple that cares more about their own power than the party or the country.

You don't have to say "mindless Republicans." Just "Republicans" will suffice...the rest we know.

Corydon 2008-03-07 01:14:07 PM
Rush is wrong if he thinks getting Republicans to vote for Clinton will give any benefit to McCain in November. If anything, extending the primary season now allows Obama to sharpen his skills and remain in the public eye while McCain won't be doing anything newsworthy until he picks a running mate.

Let's also not forget that the majority of people who vote in the general election will not start paying real attention until about a month (if that) before November 4. This is why sane countries have election campaigns that only last a few weeks or so.

Unless Hillary wins...in which case it won't make a damn bit of difference how Obama's skills are doing.

dittoheads should really pat themselves on the back for weakening their opponent with backhanded tactics. hey it's legal.

I mean they could have allowed the democratic nomination process to take its course and put their best ideas up against the dems best ideas, but this works too.

the dem party will survive this, and if you dittoheads think you're doing your party any favors by tripping up your competition instead of standing up straight and proving you've got the best ideas, think again.

you're using these weak tactics because your position is weak.

/just to get the b..b..buts outta the way, no it's not ok when dems do this either.

So... all the Republicans who crossed the line in Texas you consider mindless. Ok.

As for Clinton-ism, the original was too bad, for a stone cold centrist. The Senator? Not so appealing.

QFT
Both parties and the media seriously over-estimate the attention span of the average voter.
