My boss was buddies with this guy. I saw it on the web the other day, and he said "Oh, Chris? Did he blow himself up yet?"

Or you can put a F1 engine where the back seats were :

I'm sorry...what?

I got as far as "strap on" and my mind wandered off in a different direction...

1000hp Subby, that's about ten times less than the amount you promised me in the headline.

WTF?! Street tires? No chute? The sliding side doors are still on it? It claims the van does 11.17s which, according to drag rules, would require a roll cage. I didn't see one.

Does he take the jet engine out and use it for grocery runs when he isn't racing it?

Meh. More of an "assist" - you can see that he needs the car's drive train to get off the line, and kicks the jet in for a burst once he's moving. As another poster pointed out, he wouldn't want to take that thing, equipped as it is, up to the speed it's likely capable of. Those are NOT high speed tires on that puppy.

My question is:

Where does one acquire a jet engine?

The better question is:

Where doesn't one acquire a jet engine?

If you are handy with metal, you could always make one yourself.

Pulsejets are particularly amenable to this kind of thing, and also have a manly pulsating roar instead of a girly whine like turbojets.

Four cylinder 2.2 liter intercooled turbo equipped minivans can also do about an 11 second quarter mile.

No flames or noise like this one though.

/Yes, I have a minivan
