Seriously, the linked album rocks. Doesn't have the power of Meat Loaf's voice, but this album if it had been Meat's follow up to Bat Out Of Hell would have rocked even better.

It is interesting nonetheless to hear the songs on the album, and compare them to later revisions.

What are some of your lost/forgotten albums that other people should experience?

I picked up my copy of Collective Soul "Hints, Allegations and Things Left Unsaid" the other day after not listening to it in over 10 years... some good stuff there. Brought back some memories there...

Granted, there are only four good songs on there, but damn, do they rock.

I have that album on vinyl, subby. Took me forever to find it back in the day. Great album, but Jim's voice doesn't quite cut it.

Here's my forgotten album:

You are right, Jim's voice doesn't quite cut it. But the interesting point of listening to it is hearing the songs Meat has redone, and comparing the two versions. I hate remakes more than most people, except in this circumstance.

There are a few songs on the album that got turned into greater songs later on on other Meat albums. Really an interesting piece to listen to.

I still remember Depeche Mode's Violator being my favorite road trip music for quite a while... which is kind of retarded, in retrospect. I think there's only eight damn songs on the thing.

Had (well, still got) this on vinyl and listened to it every night for hours when I was a teenager. Got it on CD now, and still holds up to repeated listening. Seriously love this.

"Set You Free"

Here's a AV Club piece on it. Favorite tracks: "On Warmer Music", "The Town Crusher", "The Last Good Time" and especially "River High" & "It's Alright, You're O.K.". I've been listening to this since I first got a cassette copy back in high school.

Confabulat: (By Strategy)

Before I became an Eno-phile, I remember picking that up in a record store by my house, during its "2 for a buck" annual sale of its promotional copy vinyl. I showed it to my friend and said "No matter how cheap this gets, I'll never buy it because of its horrible cover." And put it back.

And, of course, paid full list for it a few years later.

Here's another. Love at first sight, when she opened for Jackson Browne in the later 70s.
