RON PAUL

I'm sorry, but your (RON PAUL) post didn't contain (RON PAUL) enough Ron Paul. (RON PAUL)

So now the fun question: does he make a 3rd party bid? Who are the big-L Libertarians fielding this time around?

And another Ron Paul article goes green.

Listen fuzzbags, if he didn't mean anything, no one would care. But apparently people do care, so he gets greenlights. He's got to be doing SOMETHING, or else we could all just sit back and pretend he didn't exist.

Yeah, he ain't gonna be president. But he has some valid goddamn points, and anyone who ridicules him regarding the value of the dollar or the Fed or any of those THINGS THAT MATTER, then you are being willfully ignorant and I pray to God your mortgage falls into a hole and I plan to kick you out of your house and buy it for a buck twenty in a few months.

A question for Ron Paul fans:

Why 'rEVOLution'?
Revolution is something the communists like to do.
Talking about "Love" in politics is what hippies do.

And Ron Paul is the opposite of a communist or a hippie.

So why? It's as absurd as if Sen. McCain were campaigning with a peace sign, Sen. Clinton in leather biker gear with a handlebar moustache, or Sen. Obama with a white hood.

Seriously, I'd like to understand what Ron Paul (or his campaign) was thinking

There will be no revolution. Which is a good thing. The powers that be now have a decisive force superiority.

But their psychic capacities are lagging.

It's ok. No hard feelings.
I know that not all revolutions are communists, (although it can be seen as more of an independence war than a revolution), but the people who use revolutionary language in political settings are either communists (see China, Cuba, USSR, Cambodia, Venezuela.... : even after 50 years, they're still tracking down counter-revolutionaries and all that) or communist/socialist inspired (Revolutionary Guard Corps in Libya).

I did forget about Iran, who has revolutionary guards, but I don't think that Ron Paul wants to associate himself to Islamic Fanatics.

Or the Beatles, but then it goes back to the 60s hippie image.

Speaking about revolution in a democracy is a bit odd, I find.

In America, a third party candidate can go on forever, unless his message is too effective. At that point, one of the major parties will adopt those positions, and the third party guy will fade away. It's the bee effect - If he stings, he dies.
Ron Paul (like Nader) carries on, proving he is not important.

bacccc: Why is it that when a politician starts talking SINCERELY about helping the people and not the political machine, he is struck down as a crazy man.

Because there's too many people who are easily manipulated by marketing techniques. Almost every person who ever called Ron Paul "crazy" is guilty of not thinking for themselves. He is a constitutionalist, which isn't "crazy", so why do they call him crazy? It's because most stories on Paul, were actually stories of supporters who weren't civil people, and they associated their actions with Paul. This is a common smear tactic. The people who don't fall in this catagory, would be the ones who criticized his policies as "crazy" because they were usually constitutionally inspired, which isn't exactly popular with either of the political extremes that are represented by main stream media. The media does the thinking for people who fall in this group. This is generally supported by the fact that when you actually debate these people, they almost exclusively resort to logical fallacies, mixed with soundbytes they picked up from tv.

Actually, it's because he's crazy. He's a "constitutionalist" about a crazy, non-existent constitution that he's made up in his mind almost from whole cloth. One with no fourteenth amendment, for example, and one where Congress is prohibited from borrowing money or assessing income taxes. His supporters, equally crazy, usually have different non-existent constitutions in their heads but don't bother to compare theirs to his, as both are better in the mind of the crazy person than the actual constitution that the United States has. He, and they, are like the fundie biblical literalists who don't even read or understand the very bible they purport to defend.

Ron Paul gets green lights for the same reason Lindsay Lohan does and at about the same frequency.

Why do people get so fu*king worked-up over this guy? If he won, you think he's gonna come to your house and wash your car or give you a check for $10,000 or something?

He's a fu*king politician. They're all the same - put him in the White House and most things will drift along, unchanged, like they will with ANYONE ELSE. Whatever "rEVOLutionary" policy ideas he has will be killed by his enemies in Congress. Powerful things he wants to do in his first 100 days will take years, and be weakened accordingly. Your life will be the same as it was before he was elected.

Well, he's the Republican version of Nader - self-aggrandizing megalomaniac who consistently distorts data, obfuscates, dissembles, and occasionally outright lies in order to pander to some sort of distortion of reality that exists only in the happy dreams of the terminally naive and/or stoned. Like Nader, he has one good idea (Nader has his anti-monopolism) which is enough to get you listening, but then the ego steps in and you realize that he's just a cult in a blue suit.

Thanks. I've always wondered about this. Is this Republican policy, or do all parties act like this? I remember the Reform party and the fight they had over Ventura's and Perot's visions and always wondered if the objection to Ventura was about the money.
