Dear god traffic on the 405 already sucks my ball sack. I can't even imagine a 200 car pileup. I'd watch out for pissed of commuters or vactioners with guns........ That is why they only do construction at night. If they didn't pepople would just shoot them.

I'm with MorGazm. How does this happen? I can understand maybe 10 cars, say the ones traveling around the idiot who caused the original accident. But then how do 190 more cars pile up? How pissed would you be if you were the alert driver and stopped in time, only to be pushed into the accident by another 'tard behind you?

That's a notoriously bad stretch of road, lots of trucks inbound for the harbor area. Poor maintenance and a few curves coupled with confusing exits and merges do not help. Add a strong marine layer and people who do not drive slower to adjust for it and you have a recipe for disaster.

How does this happen let me see dense fog with "0" visability + people that refuse to slow down (California trait) + following to close (another California trait) - brains (another and third California trait) = bang, bang, bangbangsmashcrunchwhamscreach!

California governors are termed out after two, so Davis will not be running again if he wins this time. And I doubt that even he is delusional enough -- nor the Democrat Party suicidal enough -- to attempt a serious presidential run. Damned near everyone in California hates his guts, and his dismal record of incompetence and corruption would make him a sure loser on the national stage.

Fark the cities with good transportation...the ones that will be surrendering tomorrow are the insurance companies!

Incidentally, it's not that hard to see why an accident like this could happen in LA. In LA, if you are NOT going 70 miles an hour on the freeway, you are likely to be shot by the guy behind you. Actually, you have to go 70 just to avoid an accident. If you're going 5MPH slower than the rate of traffic (including in dense fog, rain, earthquakes, etc.) the guy behind you will be driving close enough to your bumper that you can't see his headlights in your rearview mirror because they're blocked by your car trunk. And that's at 65MPH.
