Q: What do SNL and Al Gore have in common?

A: Both are as exciting as a clam in heat.

[At least G.W. would've done some blow before the show to make things more interesting... I mean, come on, give credit where credit's due]

EmoChild 2002-11-03 03:12:37 PM
I have no legs!

Stugar 2002-11-03 03:12:52 PM
Al Gore attempting comedy. I don't see him pulling it off. Not going to happen.

How can they have a story behind the story when their story is the opinion of one person whose only source is another story from a faceless media outlet?

Stugar 2002-11-03 03:22:55 PM
My ex-gf's parents are good friends of Al and Tipper. She invited me to have dinner with them. I declined.

Stugar, you sure must be an important person to turn down a dinner with the Gores.
What are you doing on Fark?
The world needs you, leave this place and go forth with your bad ass self.

HANSONSWINE 2002-11-03 03:34:09 PM
Stugar only goes to dinner with the super duper ripoffs like the Bush family.

Stugar 2002-11-03 03:34:54 PM
EmoChild: This was prior to his being V.P.
He was then Sen. Gore. Had he been V.P. then, I would have accepted.

paranoidandroid 2002-11-03 03:38:25 PM
Based on last night's SNL, Al Gore could only improve the show. I'm not kidding. That bullhorn-in-the-courtroom skit was negative funny.

pike47 2002-11-03 03:39:40 PM
Saturday Night what? Didn't that show get canceled already?

pike47 2002-11-03 03:41:07 PM
This just in! Wil Farrell to quit SNL!

ironwindow 2002-11-03 03:41:56 PM
i thought al gore invented SNL....maybe im wrong...

daredeviltravis 2002-11-03 03:45:22 PM
im POSITIVE with the departure of Farrell that SNL will only get better. Look at the past 5 years. Night at the Roxbury? Ladies Man? C'mon, jeebus..... Al could do a better lame ass comedian, only cuz that comes natural to him. Farrell had to work at that.

/SNL SUCKS

Drumblestunk 2002-11-03 03:48:25 PM
Gore on SNL? Oh goody, something stiffer than Maya Rudolph's hair.

Drumblestunk 2002-11-03 03:49:26 PM
Not that I wouldn't hit it repeatedly hit it repeatedly. Maya Rudolph, I mean.

HellRaiserandBeerDrinker 2002-11-03 03:49:32 PM
Stugar, why would you brag about being stupid?

bonzy 2002-11-03 03:50:13 PM
Gag me...how about someone funny?

whidbey65 2002-11-03 03:50:45 PM
Great. I'll tape it and use it when I need to throw up.

I can just see it. They'll put a wonderfully human face on that dork, and (BLARG) excuse me and we'll all go 'awww...we shoulda VOTED for him'--(BLEEEWWWWUHHH....!!!)

*pours some sawdust on floor*

I'll get it later.

Look, that's the USA? Only to choose between two dorks? Nazi-Dork and Flanders on failing batteries?

/I'll vote for Nader, again...it's a protest vote. When the USA turns into Nazi death camps, guess I'll know who to blame.

thornhill 2002-11-03 03:51:40 PM
Christ, this means Gore is running again.

I'll support him yet again (my vote and money), but he shouldn't allow himself to be a sacrificial lamb. If had been willing to put his ego aside, it would have behooved his career to have run for office this election. I think voters would have been impressed if after losing the 2000 election, instead of spending the next few years biatching about republicans, he got back into policy making. He could be a very strong candidate in 2008, but it looks like he's too impatient and going for broke now.

Gephardt would make such a better choice. Since the democrats are probably not going to win control of the house back, he's going to be asked to step down as minority leader. Thus, his popularity is at its apogee right now - its only going to go down hill. The Dems. need to take advantage of the fact that he's a major name and supports Bush on Iraq. And since he won't be the majority leader, he could devote his newly found free time to campaigning. And if not, him Lieberman too makes more sense than Gore (though I think we're a long way off from a Jew being elected President).

DaNightTripper [TotalFark] 2002-11-03 03:53:21 PM
I love SNL, but the last two episode were pathetic. They are over-using the female cast members, who are not really that funny. It's sad when Rachel Dratch is the main actor in a majority of your sketches (as was the case last night). They have NO re-occuring characters left (unless you count the unfunny Brian Fellows Safari guy or the over-used Mango character). I hope they start to get some new talent.

The only good skits are the political ones...and when Darrel Hammond leaves, then they're screwed in that respect.

thornhill 2002-11-03 03:53:58 PM
Look, that's the USA? Only to choose between two dorks? Nazi-Dork and Flanders on failing batteries?

This is the problem with American voters. You're not voting for the man, but for their policies.

bitplayer 2002-11-03 03:54:58 PM
I, for one, can't wait to see Al reprise his "whiney little biatch" bit......you gotta give it to him, he's got that one down pat.

Squidward 2002-11-03 03:57:54 PM
Are they going to feature Gore on that gay sketch with the college webcam? Or the gay sketch with the one-legged chick?

whidbey65 2002-11-03 03:59:11 PM
Thornhill

Yeah, but we're voting for the guy that holds the book upside down or the guy that talks like he's ready to send you to the principal's office!!!

/the candidates get picked and put in office by interested rich influentials. Voting isn't effective on a national level.

Drumblestunk 2002-11-03 03:59:20 PM
A new partner in crime-fighting for Ace and Gary?

pike47 2002-11-03 04:04:01 PM
SNL really was a funny show at one point in time. Back when people like Chevy Chase, Jon Lovitz, Randy Quaide, etc etc. It really started to go downhill after Phil Hartman's psycho biatch wife killed him. And then we lost Chris Farley too. God SNL sucks so hard now.

pike47 2002-11-03 04:04:41 PM
Oh yeah - Kevin Nealon was the last funny Weekend Update guy as well. Everyone after him has really been lame.

thornhill 2002-11-03 04:05:40 PM
Yeah, but we're voting for the guy that holds the book upside down or the guy that talks like he's ready to send you to the principal's office!!!

The fact that Bush is too stupid to hold a book right-ways up has no influence over the fact that he takes a pro-life stance on many policies and who he appoints as a supreme court judge.

TheDatelessWonder 2002-11-03 04:14:28 PM
WOW! A Newsmax article that didn't biatch about Clinton's peener. It was actually quite un-Newsmaxy. I'm shocked.

And does anyone else remember when Gore starred as himself on Futurama? Pretty damn funny if you ask me. "That would cause the end of the universe, and as an environmentalist, I'm against that." So if he makes fun of himself a bunch, it could be funny.

Like anyone cares.

whidbey65 2002-11-03 04:15:18 PM
Thornhill

My point is that it gets really old voting for the lesser of two evils. The values that both candidates (Bush, Gore, natch) are touting aren't written in stone anymore. I can't believe that in our enlightened age (echoing laughter) that we (the voters, Bruce) would still flock every four years to such pragmatic, unhip ideals. Seems like the majority of voters are comparatively youthful or older folk who've learned a lesson or two.

/now the laughter explodes through the haunted house

enickchuck 2002-11-03 04:15:18 PM
So Gore tried to tear apart the country while he was trying to be pres.

Imagine what kind of bad shape we would be in if he had won. Kind of looks bad on Dems everywhere. If I were a dem, I'd hang my head in shame. But I'm not, so all I can do is shake my head and say-

You have GOT to be kidding.

Did Gore also invent overinflated ego?

Bush for pres.
Clinton for jail time.
