Wait a minute. Didn't Howard Dean say this is breaking the agreed rules this morning? Unless Dean has back tracked that, there's disarray over there at the DNC.

nekom [TotalFark] 2008-03-06 05:19:33 PM
I guess that would be fair.

Well, Barry's not gonna pay for it. The FL peeps paid for it once already and the Hillabeast can't touch it with a 10 foot pole...soooo....

What's next?, the Drama Llama?

It was my understanding that new primaries or caucuses are well within the rules. It was counting delegates in any other situation that was bad.

I might be wrong about that.

I might be too. Dean was talking about...some gibberish and then some convention "ethics" committee for seating. But he wasn't saying a do-over was possible according to agreed rules. His position this morning was no changing game in progress.

I dont know if I want Obama to have a fit.. or just say .. "Fine, I can afford to campaign all the hell over those places, and you cant"

The position has been that the old primary won't count because it was outside of the allowed window. A new contest will be inside the window and therefore be counted.

7of7 [TotalFark] 2008-03-06 05:44:20 PM
Good. I can't believe some people wanted the Michigan delegates to be seated as if the "primary" was an actual legit election that entitled Clinton to any delegates. Obama left his name off the ballot in support of the DNC rules and those of us who would've voted for Obama didn't vote. Hillary didn't follow the rules at all. If anything she should be punished for participating in the first primary.

Shadow Blasko 2008-03-06 05:45:36 PM
Hillary campaigned in both Floriduh and Michigan didn't she? or was she just on the ballots?

Seemingly:

Jan 27, 5:12 PM (ET)
By MIKE GLOVER

SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) - Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton said Sunday she was going to Florida to assure Democrats that "their voices are heard" and to underscore her commitment to seeing the state's delegation seated at the national convention.

Though the Democratic presidential candidates largely have heeded the national party's request that they not campaign publicly in Florida, Clinton said it's time to pay attention to voters there who are showing heavy interest in Tuesday's primary. Early voting is under way and drawing strong interest, she said.

"Hundreds of thousands of people have already voted in Florida and I want them to know I will be there to be part of what they have tried to do to make sure their voices are heard," Clinton said in Memphis, Tenn., before heading for Florida.

I think you are misreading his intent. He has stated a couple times over the past few weeks that if Florida and Michigan wanted to select a new slate of delegates via primary or caucus after Super Tuesday then they would be accepted. But their current slates would be rejected because they were selected on dates which broke party rules.

If this is true, that Michigan is going to hold a Caucus... that is going to cause Hillary to go ballistic. Obama polls just slightly better in Michigan than Hillary does, and his organization has playing the caucus game down to a science.

cranberryzero [TotalFark] 2008-03-06 05:50:24 PM
caucuses? WIN.

obama will thank you for the delegates, mi.

CtrlAltDelete [TotalFark] 2008-03-06 05:52:28 PM
Meh. Let them vote. Let it count. Even if it goes Hillary's way, it's better to have as honest a democracy as possible.

Yeah, it would never be Hillary's idea to hold new elections. Only to seat them as they are. We'll see some ludicrous spin from her pretty soon, I'm sure.

I can't see a place where all three sides, Obama-Hillary-DNC, come out unscathed. Someone's gonna get spanked, metaphorically speaking.

mferris 2008-03-06 06:02:28 PM
So is it safe to say it's only a matter of time before FL announces this as well?

Kinda sucks.. I'm in Florida, want to vote for Obama but am not registered Democratic.. probably too late at this point. I have a sneaking suspicion Hillary takes Florida anyways considering the lethal mix of Hispanics, Jews, good ol' country boys, and old people we have here.

///Hey, I was one of the absentee ballots that put Bush over the top in 2000
////Voting for Obama in a revote is the least I can do

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

DamnYankees: Well, this should help Obama. Hopefully.

A caucus, a format Obama has dominated, in a state where Clinton barely managed to beat "Uncommitted" by 10 points? This after Obama has shattered every fundraising record in the books in two consecutive months?

All this without a single dollar coming in from the DLC?

The Clinton Panic-O-Meter is redlining right now.

DamnYankees [TotalFark] 2008-03-06 07:06:12 PM
Apparently, Clinton has said she won't accept this.

Got it from Kos, who knows how reliable this is.

Sir Vanderhoot 2008-03-06 07:06:36 PM
So would that mean that only people who voted in the primary can vote again? Like in TX?

Or would this be a complete do-over?

/GObama, etc

Of course not! How can she sneak the MI delegates in the back door if they have a revote?

Let's keep mind that caucuses are FAAAAAAAAAAAAAR cheaper than Primaries.

I think if they both submit caucus plans, they will get paid for by someone.

I know Dean is very tight with the Clintons. I mean, he did push McAuliff (sp?) out because Terry was pretty incompetent. I wonder if there is some internal DNC polling showing movement in these states.

And she looks incredibly anti-democratic. Hope this blows up in her face.

Are you sure about this?

Everyone has been talking about a possible revote forever.

The DNC didn't want Michigan and FLorida to go before Feb 5th, thats all. It isn't like they didn't want their delegates as a general rule.
