Friends in dallas are saying the concert there has been officially cancelled and is supposed to be rescheduled for April.

This could just be a "give us a few days to decide whether we can pull this out or shiatcan the entire exercise" move on the part of the promoters and band management.

Medical tests? It's pretty easy to see if a guy is drunk or not.

Maybe it's that cancer thing again.

FWIW I never even thought the tour would make it THIS far.

WAY TO GO GUYS!!!

/anything after this point is just extra credit...

I haven't paid attention lately, but I'm pretty sure Eddie was sober when this tour started. It definitely showed in his appearance and playing. I saw them a few years ago when they toured with Sammy and Eddie was a mess.

That's too bad.

This would almost have been exciting fifteen years ago.

He sure looked and acted sober in Kansas City last October and his playing was spot on. They all appeared to be having a hell of a time. It would pretty much suck if he gets clean and then the cancer comes back.

from the press release:

Live Nation Media Alert

VAN HALEN DALLAS, CINCINNATI, RALEIGH & BALTIMORE CONCERTS POSTPONED

The Van Halen Concerts in Dallas Cincinnati Raleigh and Baltimore have been postponed. According to Eddie Van Halen's physician, he is undergoing a battery of comprehensive tests to determine a defined diagnosis and recommended medical procedures.

(it goes on to say the concerts are rescheduled for dates in April, so apparently the tour is still on...}

This could be bad.

I will admit I was on fark making fun of his drunkedness and assuming the worst in him. If these tour changes are because his cancer returned - or the threat of a serious medical issue, I would like to hereby call myself an asshole.

Fortunatlety, I'm on fark so not only is that not a big deal because I'm anonymous, but "asshole" is entirely average here.

Have any of their shows so far been filmed/taped yet for future DVD release?

jiaxiaobo 2008-03-04 12:37:17 AM
Just my two bits for anyone interested in seeing them. I saw them late October in Boston and it surpassed expectations. Eddie was in fine form and the show was actually rather good; I was glad I went.

I'm gonna have to back up the good reviews. I saw them here in LA and they were great. I honestly went in thinking it would just be ho-hum or maybe at best a nostalgia trip. Well, I did get nostalgic a bit. But the band deserves props for sounding this good so far on in their careers.

It'll be a goodam shame if they cancel the rest of the tour for those waiting to see them.

Oh goody, we get to hear all the same old songs over and over again. And this time we only have to pay 2008 prices.

MikoSquiz 2008-03-05 07:00:22 PM
Mm-mm, "Jump". The gay disco song that stuck its foot out, tripped rock and roll music as we knew it up and over the edge, and sent it spiraling down into the lowest depths of poodle perm wank hell.
