Will Spinal Tap be there too?

Hey, all you need is cash.

Looks like they also just announced what will be on the DVD. You know that's coming.

So are they going to keep Eric Idle and Neil Innes on different sides of the theater separated by concrete barriers? There is no love lost between the two...

I was going to come here to say "I guess all you need is cash," but then Atvar beat me to it.

...but I did it anyway.

Jeeze, I just watched "The Rutles: All You Need is Cash" last weekend and was saddened to think of how many of folks in the film have passed on. Gilda Radner, George Harrison, John Belushi, etc.

Tragical History Tour, indeed. But still a hilarious spoof.

An experience that will last a lunchtime.

I thought Stig was dead.

It's very funny, but the music is actually damn good. Some of the songs on their mid-90s CD, Archaeology, could stand on their own without the obvious Beatles spoof connection. And since I've only got "All You Need Is Cash" on VHS, I can't wait for an expanded DVD release.

Awesome. Time to get out the psychedelic kettle and boil up some special tea.

Absolutely agree. I also have the VHS, and "Arcaeology", and consequently am looking forward to the DVD. Neil Innes is a genius.

/Do I have to spell it out?

i wonder if they'll digitally remove the anachronous VW rabbit that appears in the "hard day's rut" scene...

If a digitally remastered DVD is released, it might be time to upgrade the Rhino version I have... wouldn't be the first time I've "double dipped" on DVD releases.

When are Arthur Hodgson and the Kneecaps getting back together?

galumph200 2008-03-03 01:29:20 PM
Well it's good to know that Eric Idle is willing to honor Neil Innes again with his presence after, claiming 100% credit for the Rutles, trying to block the Archaeology project, and suing Innes into bankruptcy a few years ago.

Art imitates even parody life...

Everyone was very litigious back then. I recall I would wake up, read the papers, phone the papers, sue the papers...

In 1970, Dirk sued Stig, Nasty, and Barry; Barry sued Dirk, Nasty, and Stig; Nasty sued Barry, Dirk, and Stig; and Stig sued himself accidentally. It was the beginning of a golden era for lawyers...

get up and go...get up and go... get up and go back on tour.

But Stig and Ron are gone :(

/I saw you both come in, and clearly you're not meant for him, so - please, please hold my hand!

This would make a nice bookend with the reunion show by the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah band, that also had Neil Innes orchestrating.

If you were a fan, it's well worth seeking it out. It was fun, entertaining, and - most surprising - incredibly touching, to the point of my misting up as they performed some of their tunes with the audience singing right along with them. Wonderful, really.

I think that this thread is focusing too much on TFA and not enough on the fact that we have a Satire Tag now!
