That is very sad. And yet inspiring - the fact that in spite of suffering his entire life he still manages to make music like that. Now he and George can play duets in that big rock band in the sky...

Very good cover. I like it better than the original.

I had no idea he died. Just went to the Google. I'm sad now.

Sad, such a great talent... He's jamming with Jimi and Stevie right now, though. Wish I could hear it...

Dalton: So, you play pretty good for a blind white boy.
Cody: Yeah, and I thought you'd be bigger.

An amazing talent. Have been a fan for a long time.

He did a farking AMAZING cover of "Shapes of Things" a few years back. Too bad the only thing most people will know him for is that piece of crap "Angel Eyes." What a shame.

R.I.P.

I'll remember him most from Roadhouse, one of my favorite movies.

I had never heard of this guy before, and if I had not been told he was blind I would have never known.

I am always amazed that a person who cannot see is able to perform music.

I can't perform music and I have perfect vision.

Why? It only takes hands and ears...

Well yes, it's easy to play music without using your eyes. Any semi-accomplished musician should be able to play just as well using their hands (or mouth) and ears. But it is hard to start learning how to play music without vision. That's what's amazing to me.

For anyone interested, a partial list.

Angel eyes
See the Light
I think I love you too much
How long (can a man be strong)
Lost in your eyes
Thats what they say
Leave the light on

Plus many good blues/rock covers.

Beethoven would disagree. ;-)

Note that Beethoven wasn't deaf until his later years. :-)

Awesome cover, thanks for posting. Here's another bit of Healy awesomeness:

See The Light (live) (new window)

One of the best covers there is.

I had tickets to see The Jeff Healey Band once at a club just up the street from my apartment. My job took me out of town a lot so I was gambling when I bought them. I almost made it. My roommate went in my place. One of my few regrets is not telling my boss to take a different tech for that job.

DoctorCal 2008-03-03 10:54:58 PM
I had no idea. Sad loss.

That said, this is high on my list of covers that pale miserably against the original, but I'm completely cool with other people getting more out of it.

Didn't know he died, either. What a bummer.
