It's burning bridges if you endorse. Granted, it gets you a place in the administration. No risk, no reward. But who wants to be a pariah after endorsing the wrong person?

I'd bet good money he gets a spot in the next administration if Obama wins it.

/Richardson seems to be generally competent

Someone needs to a 'shop of old Bill and Bearded Bill a la the evil McCain twin one.

Also, stop being afraid of Hillary, Bill. The rest of America has shown that they're not.

Approves

Richardson needs to be VP or Secretary of State. Then he needs to be our next president with facial hair.

Nah, he'd make a great Sec. of State though.

I'm rooting for an Obama/Napolitano ticket, though Richardson would make a GREAT choice for Veep too.

Come on Bill! Everyone knows that it would take a miracle for Hilary to come from behind to win it. Do it already! Are you that afraid of the Clintons?

And why hasn't any of the other former candidates for that matter (except Dodd)? I would have expected Biden to follow Dodd.

/if by miracle I mean shenanigans by Hillary then yes

"I just think the D-Day is Tuesday. We have to have a positive campaign after Tuesday. Whoever has the most delegates after Tuesday, a clear lead, should be in my judgment the nominee," Richardson said on "Face the Nation" on CBS.

Well, since the only one who can accomplish that is Obama, it seems pretty clear which horse he's backing.

I predict that Bill Richardson will make an endorsement when the convention is over and a candidate gets an endorsement. Then he'll pretend he didn't know who won, due to, uhh ... sunspots mucking up his electronics.

I would like to announce that, like Bill Richardson, I'll be endorsing a candidate next week.

Who will it be, you ask?

The answer is... WHO THE F*CK CARES?!

This picture reminds me of that one time, I was in New Orleans helping with Katrina recovery stuff, and driving through some parts of town we saw groups of Mexicans on street corners looking for work with whatever contractor or home owner picked 'em up.

I used to live near a house that was being rented out to about 10 Mexican construction workers. I'm pretty sure Bill Richardson wasn't one of them. I usually only saw them at night, and the streetlight wasn't great though.

Richardson is the governor of New Mexico, right? Shouldn't he already have voted? So shouldn't he be NOT on the fence?

Richardson should have been the Democratic nominee. He's a governor and former cabinet member - now THAT'S experience. :(

Don't know much about Napolitano, but I like the Western Dems as a good balance of independent politics to the usual Democratic politics.

True, but voting and endorsing aren't the same thing.

The beard is not a good look for my fair governor. I still bummed out that he quit the nomination race so quickly. Hillary can talk about experience all she wants too trying to sink Obama, but Richardson was the most experienced of the four of them: senator, governor, secretary of energy, ambassador to the UN, et al.

The New Mexico Democratic Party had its caucus on Super Tuesday, but unlike other caucuses this one is by secret ballot. Additionally, he might have been out of the state at the time. I will say that in my neighborhood, the caucus site was packed with the elderly from noon to night. And we know who the old folks like.

CravenMorehead 2008-03-03 12:38:54 AM
I'm surprised that nobody endorsed anyone yet. I was sure that someone like Richardson or Edwards would have come out just before Tuesday to support Obama.

I know endorsements don't mean much but I think one from Richardson could help him in Texas and one from Edwards could help him in Ohio.

He's still gonna win though. And Hillary is going to stay until the convention.

Hector Remarkable 2008-03-03 01:21:43 AM
I never realized it - John Edwards as Quinn Mallory, Hillary as Wade Welles, Bearded Bill Richardson as Professor Arturo, and Obama as Rembrandt Brown. They're the original Sliders.

Anarchangel 2008-03-03 01:38:37 AM
According to the article right above this one, Richardson says that in his opinion the clear nominee will be whoever wins on Tuesday, and that the party should unite in support of that candidate.

In other words, he'll endorse him whenever it's most irrelevant.

eraser8 will tear into me for this, but Richardson was so incompetent as Secretary of Energy that Senator Ted Kennedy told him point blank on the floor of the Senate that he had earned the Senate's eternal enmity, and that they would oppose him in whatever endeavors lay in his future. He pissed off left and right by refusing to report to Congress, after he'd had weeks to get his shiat together, and only showed up when he decided he was good and ready.

Would have been nice to see this done with Gonzales, Rumsfeld, Cheney, Bush, etc.
