"And having made that appraisal... I hope she'll understand that we need to bring our party together and prepare for a victory in November, which is the ultimate goal."

Clearly, Mr. Durbin didn't get the memo. The ultimate goal is what the Clinton's want the ultimate goal to be. Everyone else can just go scratch. Party unity is highly over-rated. Hillary is gonna show us all that she can be the Boss even with half the Dems, all of the Reps, and most of the Indies hating her guts. You go, girl !

RTFA; that's not quite what Wolfson is saying. He's saying they expect to win on Tuesday, and from there get the nomination. I don't honestly think he believes it, but Clinton's people basically have to say it at this point.

Nowhere in TFA does it say that they won't drop out if they lose on Tuesday.

I don't think it'll be up to Hillary...if she loses on tuesday, her party backers will force her out of the race.

Hillary, please drop out. For the good of the country, just drop out.

"What I'm saying is, we're going to have a great day on Tuesday. We're going to win this nomination. This nomination fight is going to go forward after Ohio and Texas," he said on ABC television.

"We're going to go to Pennsylvania, where a lot more Americans are going to vote, and we're going to be the nominee in Denver."

That doesn't say 'no matter what', it sounds like being optimistic (maybe naively so). Quit your fear mongering, subtard.

What if she doesn't?

Assume for a moment that Hillary loses badly in Texas and Ohio and still decides to stay in the race. What then?

I don't know about Hillary's chances at this point.... uh, Abdul, could you give me a quick number crunch?

Abdul: Okay, gimme a sec....

I'm coming up with 32.33 - uh, repeating of course - percent chance of winning anything on Tuesday.

Well that's alot better than she's been doing these past few weeks-

ALRIGHT, TIME'S UP! LET'S DO THIS!

Does anyone know if Obama does well enough to win every state from this point on, can he get enough delegates for the nomination, not including super-delegates?

Nice to see that she's listening to Karl Rove^.

I feel ever so much better when candidates behave in a way he approves.

CravenMorehead: Does anyone know if Obama does well enough to win every state from this point on, can he get enough delegates for the nomination, not including super-delegates?

Definitely - in fact he is so far in the lead that HRC would have to win every election from here on out by 62%.

Its a done deal. Texas is his - nobody is polling Independents yet and he's still ahead. Due to the fact that delegate counts are related to the last turnout of Democratic voters in 2004 - Hispanics (because the majority voted republican that year) get a much smaller slice of the caucus delegate pie than blacks (or whites)

Meanwhile she continues to earn a reputation for divisiveness. I mean really - this should be a banner year for the democrats. If she manages to polarize the party faithful before she has even been nominated imagine what she would do to the country if she became president.

If she loses badly on Tuesday and stays in the race, then she just becomes a joke. If she wins one by a small margin and loses the other by a wider margin, or perhaps even better for her, that's where it gets more interesting.

It seems the longer she stays in the race, the more she is bringing Dems together - against her and for Obama.

You know I'm starting to wonder if there are financial reasons for her to keep running. This odd reluctance to face the obvious along with her refusal to show her tax returns smack of the presence of "irregularities".

How many promises have the Clintons made and to whom? They were very sure she was going to win. They have probably promised all sorts of things to some rather ruthless individuals. She has to put up an incredible fight or her backers are going to be very pissed. Hell they must already be pissed at how she spent their money.

Hillary's chances of winning the Ohio and Texas instance is less than that. Might want to run those numbers again.

At this point I'd be surprised if she didn't stay in. Her team, late last week when Texas and Ohio became tighter and tighter in the polls, began to distance themselves from their honest appraisals early on: that they need those two states.

At some point last week they stopped admitting that and when asked how important those states were gave answers about how important Pennsylvania is.

Well if they all cast "immunity to darkness" and "lvl 23 delegate increase" they might have a shot.

Hillary cast "immunity to darkness"? Now you are just messing with us. Why would she want to cast an immunity against her own skill set?

The people vs. the machine in the Democrat Convention. Maybe it for the wrong reasons, but the people are awake this year. We will see who wins. Hillary "Let them eat cake" Clinton can never be underestimated though.

SomeoneDumb 2008-03-02 08:57:28 PM
Hillary's best shot in TX and OH is from all the early voting. I think most of those were cast when she was up by twenty points or so. I'm sure (and I hope) Obama will win the votes on election day, but she may have built up a huge number.

If that's the only reason she wins, the party should ask her to respectfully step down.

Falcc 2008-03-02 08:59:12 PM
Good. Good, I want her to stay in the whole time. I want her to make legal threats and more divisive speaches and go nuts every time she gets close to a camera. Obama's already fighting off McCain. Let Clinton ruin every bit of credibility that family had so she can't even get a lobbying job when she's done. Let her ruin herself and prove that the American people finally know better.

Her kind of politics need to die off, and she's the one that can finally push them over the edge. The only thing I'm worried about is her trying to actually have Obama killed.

I don't see how she can pull this one off tho.

Look - let's assume for a moment that she manages to somehow stay in the race 'till convention time. Hillary, Obama and a whole bunch of party insiders all go into a back room for 2 days and when they come out, they announce that Hillary is the DNC candidate. Do you *really* think that all the Obama people are going to stand for that? I don't. In fact, i'm sure that the backlash will rip apart the Democrats for the next couple of years.

For all intents and purposes Hillary's campaign is over. Obama is the winner.

With polls this close, I'd say they're not sufficiently awake :p

Nemo's Brother 2008-03-02 09:02:05 PM
Hope you're right, Weaver95, but I have become very jaded. Nothing will surprise me anymore. If Hillary wins, I plead for everyone to not vote or to vote McCain. Even if you don't like McCain, he will probably be a one-time president. I can't see an 81-year-old man running for office.

It will be a bandage, similar to what the Vatican did by selecting a Pope as old as John Paul was. The one they are grooming is probably only in his 40s-50s right now.
