Yet another reason that nobody is. I wonder how she'd do in an electrified maze.

Weaver95 [TotalFark] 2008-03-02 05:10:27 PM
When pressed by Axelrod as to why "Clinton continues to refuse to release her tax returns, as all the other candidates have," Wolfson asserted that "the tax returns are going to be released around tax time."

Gee, and Hillary wonders why nobody trusts her...

Shaggy_C 2008-03-02 06:25:22 PM
Billy Bob already said that their finances are off limits until after she gets the nomination. I'm SURE they wouldn't have any secrets while in the White House, ya know?

I can almost 100% of the time read a post about Hillary and tell if Weaver95 is the poster without looking at his name.

Seriously, on or around April 15th?

If Hillary could have done that sometime before tomorrow than hats off to her for doing the right thing. But with such a delay...she's asking for a level of trust that people just don't seem have in her anymore.

Master of the Flying Guillotine 2008-03-02 07:00:15 PM
So what they're saying is "We're going to release it at pretty much the last moment possible in order to minimize scrutiny leading up to the Pennsylvania primary, but we'll probably delay the release of them even then once we figure out some sort of convenient excuse (e.g., dog ate it, left it on the bus, right-wing conspiracy)."

Good to know.

Falcc 2008-03-02 07:00:36 PM
Wolfson also challenged the Obama campaign to come clean about the Senator's relationship with campaign contributor Tony Rezko

So it's ok if Hillary is willing to hide her entire record to a degree beyond any of the other candidates, but it's not enough for Obama to have returned all the money he got from Rezko ages ago, and both renounce and reject him every other day? Is it sexist to expect a female candidate to be as honest as a male one? How does that work?

dervish16108 2008-03-02 07:02:07 PM
That sounds fair. She's got my vote. I trust her papers are all in order.

In case you haven't guessed, this is the Introduction to the Opposites.

There's are reasonable explanation here: Like most Americans, Hillary is just lazy and keeps putting off her taxes.

It begs the question: Can we really elect such sloth to the White House?

mferris 2008-03-02 07:03:59 PM
If Team Clinton wants to push Obama on Rezko, they should ask her about the Peter Paul/Stan Lee investigations...

Indeed. Most Americans couldn't hold the office of president.

Also, unlike most Americans, Hillary could delegate this responsibility to her many underlings upon the new year. Unless she's going the Bubba route; "Hey look at me! I eat at McDonalds!" "Look! I'm filing my taxes on April 15th! And I pulled a Homer Simpsons and told my accountant that I paid my taxes last year until he had to remind me that it's a yearly thing!"

I think we have just reach the point where people EXPECT this kind of shat from Hillary so we don't care enough anymore to read about it in the media anymore. On the other hand, Obama misbehaving, no matter how old or irrelevant, it's new and people want to hear about it.

/Yea...I don't know why we do it either.

Took me a total of 45 minutes. And I got a check for $1600 coming my way for the trouble. Screw underlings, it was the best $39.99 I ever spent.

Tax returns, several hundred thousand pages of stuff from the Clinton years, investigation reports into too many unexplained dead bodies near the Clinton family...these are all things that could, and should be made public if she really feels we can trust her to lead us.

I doubt that any of them will ever see the light of day

The thing I don't get is why they are letting her slide on the why. Every time they ask her WHY she has not released them, she says she will at some point. But WHY not now?

She never start a sentence with BECAUSE. She just says I'll do it soon/after I win the nom. No one pins her down on WHY haven't you done it yet/ WHY are you waiting? Frankly I'd respect her more if she said flat out she won't release them instead of insulting everyone's intelligence. If you are going to release them AFTER you get the nomination, then they can be released NOW. The point of releasing them is transparency. Show the people where your money is coming from so they might start to feel they can trust you. People are often stupid but most can still spot bullshiat if you shovel it out right in front of their face. And this pig in a poke vibe stinks to high heaven.

I think her hedging is tacit acknowledgment of the fact she very well will not win the nom. She doesn't want to release them and bear possible scandal for nothing. Easier to do if she's the nominee and blame Republicans for smearing her or some other such thing.

THIS. A million times this. The press should be hounding herm breathing down her freaking neck. Not for the returns, but for a reason why they don't have them already. When someone asks you "why", you need to answer with "because", or you're a lying sack of shiat.

Opiate of the Lasses: But WHY not now?

I am guessing that she has promised several rather powerful individuals that she would keep it under wraps. Perhaps she has backers that would rather not be known as such until its too late to turn back the tide.

This election has not gone at all according to plan for the Powers That Be.

This makes me happy.

They're too AFRAID to call her on it now that she's made accusations about media being biased against her. No one wants to look like they're hounding her, even though that's their JOB!

Bunch of pussies.

I like that Tim Russert didn't back down or let her talk over him at the debate. That man should win an award of some sort for having the BALLS the stand up to her bully tactics.

Even more evidence of how out of touch she is. When one of the first words people associate with you is "untrustworthy", you want to make damn sure to avoid any appearance of shadiness. For example Barack realized that many people would assume he'd run an Al n' Jesse type campaign, so he bends over backwards to not "play the race card" [i hate that term but you get what i mean]. Problem for Hillary is that she IS shady. So if she tried to be transparent she'd be sunk.

Some Farker recently said "If you can win going positive, and you can't win going negative, then your opponent is just a better candidate". The rest of America* seems to have recognized this, when will Hillary?

The Clintons have so many skeletons in their closets -- the GOP will destroy her in the general election, piling on one alleged scandal after another, until she's practically forced to quit the race. Obama at least has a chance, but you can't run the Democrats' version of Karl Rove (Hillary Clinton) against the GOP's mudslinging tactics. Swiftboaters will be a walk in the park compared to what Clinton will inspire.
