i hate it when the carrot is dangled in front of you, then swiftly taken away.

:(

It was the right move. Much as I love Plant and Zep, he simply doesn't have it any more. It would be embarrassing for him.

There's always some kind of chance.

He's got a commitment to an album and tour, he can't just say "oh yes when that's all done Zep is going on tour"

It's going to be next year when he could commit, and then another 6 months or more of preperation.

So I'm more willing to give a "Wait and see" approach.

I mean Pink Floyd must be almost ready to go out since their reunion at Live 8.

Awesome. The last thing the world needed was any more pretend Zep concerts.

Good. After seeing clips from the Ahmet Ertegün concert, it's clear some things should be left in the past. Why tarnish your legacy with a cash grab.

Good choice. Guy can't sing live anymore. Put out a Zep album of all new material and take the time to get the takes right and make it sound good. That's where studio help can come in.

Live? He sounds like shiat.

dereksmalls 2008-03-02 07:50:22 PM
he should do it. his crappy vocals work well with page's shiatty guitar playing, and bonzo's presently poor percussion skills

Agreed.

I'm a huge fan of Zeppelin and Plant's work. I'm fine with him wanting to do his own thing. We have the DVDs and live albums to remember what it was like.

Yes, there are two paths he can go by... play with Zeppelin or play with Krauss...There's still time for him to change the road he's on.

At first, before reading the article, I thought, "More power to him; he should go with his heart." Then I read the article and saw what they were all offered. More than double his current net worth (earned over an entire career) - I'd eat a hundred discarded placentas if someone offered me $100M pounds to do it!

Now I really admire his restraint. Too bad, though, would have been interesting to see "the grown-up Zeppelin".

Gulper Eel [TotalFark] 2008-03-02 09:35:31 PM
100 million pounds/200 million dollars a head sounds like music-industry/tabloid bullshiat math to me. Last year's top 5 tours put together - the Police, Genesis, Justin Timberlake, Kenny Chesney and Rod Stewart - only grossed $600 mil or so.

7/10.

Now go back under your bridge and practice more.

Also, I'm sure if Bonzo were alive today to hear of Plant's decision not to give it another go, he'd be madly clawing at the inside of his casket for air.

I would murder anyone in this thread if I got to see Led Zeppelin live. If I could. I would.

/has found his first victim.

A Zep world tour would suck because of how erratic Page is.

Plant knows that. They should just do a few shows here and there instead. Better than nothing.

Um...pretty much everything I've heard about the show in December was that it was amazing and they were all fantastic...also, I saw Plant in 2005 for his Strange Sensation tour and it was such a great show. He does still have it, or at least did then.

Captain_Creampuff 2008-03-02 11:02:37 PM
I support him

Also I would rather see Plant/Krauss than Led Zeppelin

at least I could get/afford tickets for that

Good choice. Guy can't sing live anymore.

From what I've heard, Zep tuned down all their songs a whole step for the reunion, and Plant sounded better in those keys than he did much of the time in '73-'80 trying to sing a whole step higher.

thesharkman 2008-03-03 07:02:45 AM
Enough of those complaining about his voice. Do you think you can hit those notes at that age... you can't hit those note now. I think he sounds fine for what's he's doing. No one is ever got to hit those original notes...
Did the Police, Van Halen, or Genesis sound the same on their tours?

munko 2008-03-03 10:35:13 AM
just sayin but i think bob is pre-occupied with banging allison. don't blame him one bit. why no pics of the odd couple. i wanna see allisons naughty parts.

Dude, how are you even going to compare tours by those bands to the epic event that would be a Led Zeppelin world tour? It says in the article that a million people wanted tickets to that one-off show last year. A world tour by Zeppelin would no doubt break all sorts of records for scalped ticket price, as it would be so farking difficult to get tickets to wherever they played. Also, I imagine a lot of money would come from tour sponsors and the like, they aren't talking straight ticket-sale profit.

No one is ever got to hit those original notes...

Steven Tyler can hit the ridiculous notes of his youth. That's about the only one I can think of that can. McCartney is pretty close but he was never a wailing banshee type singer anyway.

He has been skipping that stuff, like at the end of 'Dream On', for years now.

The re-recording he did this year for Guitar Hero says otherwise.

A guitar hero recording? Can you say "studio magic"?
