The last Indian I spoke to steared me towards an excellent Merlot.

They want to their own rights, etc, well, they got 'em. I lived near Cherokee for several years and worked on the reservation. The money they spent was so misguided. Lots of training all over the country when they could have taken it in nearby Asheville. Of course when you give people who have nothing money they piss it away. Drive around the reservation and you'll see a mobile home with plastic sheeting over the windows and 2 new trucks and a bass boat in the yard.

Up here in Canada, the members of a tribe have, by federal law, the right to check the books.

Of course, in a crooked system, looking at those books can mean that your band funding suddenly gets cut - your name goes to the bottom of the list for housing, post-secondary education funding and, if you or members of your family *work* for the band council, they'll likely be unemployed soon.

The accused members of the tribal council has been very quiet when it comes to answering questions. I have been contacting their office's since the first press release from People First. The council use's the tribal funds meant for the people, as a personal piggy bank with zero accountability. This council is the same as the old boss. This council has been more secretive in their motives. This will not get any better, the next group will not change anything. Most people are related to someone running and will accuse their opponent of criminal activity.

This goes deeper than anyone outside the immediate area can fathom.

To top it off, Rick Renzi was crucial in getting the tribe more money, in order to get their votes. They are a huge block of voters in Gila County.

I worked for a Tribal Council a long time ago, okay maybe a few years ago...Let me just say after I started working there I never went to their casinos to gamble or buy food and have never been back. They are so stinking rich! When the members are born their check that they get every month for being a member went into a fund and when they were 18 their fund had well over $1 million for them to take and buy drugs, buy a Humvee etc. The problem is they cannot handle their own money, they would get $10K a month from their Council checks and yet they would still have to go to the Tribal Council to have them pay to go to the dentisit!!
