Yes to both.

In brief, could someone please explain or direct me to a link that explains the whole 'drink your milkshake' thing? I know it is from the movie, etc. As much as it annoys me, I want to focus my annoyance properly.

The Russian winters!!!! And why the hell does everyone who wanted to attack Russia try to do it during the winter season? Some kind of death wish?

Unpleasant though that may be, why exactly is it a suspendable offence? Although I suppose as they're in the air force, it can't be good for their operational capacity...

I'm thinking the tanks have to be worth WELL more than €100,000 based on the value of their metal for scrap alone...

State_College_Arsonist: Um, did anyone notice this link from the article? Two guys made blood sausage from their own blood? Dear lord...

Actually FTFA it sounds like they made blood sausage from *other people's* blood. They asked some guy for blood and he told his superior officers.

LargeCanine 2008-03-02 12:32:09 PM
Article is short on specifics. What models of panzers? The Germans had 7 major Marks each with variations, plus boatloads of conversions and captured tanks (panzers). I doubt the Germans sent first rate vehicles to their allies, not having enough themselves.

-I think the article made it pretty clear that the two officers were disciplined under some sort of "you made us look bad" ruling. As for the sausage, it's made by cooking down blood with a filler of some type until the mixture congeals. I'm not sure of the ratio of blood to filler, but I'm reasonably certain that at least a pint of blood would be necessary. This internet recipe requires two cups of pork blood and half a pound of lard.

Still, that's just plain weird.

It is a Stug III, more specifically an early G model. You can tell by the commander's cupola and the style of gun mantlet. By the time the Germans would have supplied the Bulgarians with this particular model it would have been getting a little long in the tooth but still a pretty effective tank killer.

I never understood people who really and truly want to own a tank. It's the most impractical and disgusting waste of money imaginable, for most people.

A Schwimmwagen or Kübelwagen, meanwhile, would be a more practical and interesting piece of German WWII history.
