I'd go with most of those and maybe a couple more from Electric Dreams

I still like View to a Kill, and Howard the Duck was a great flick.

"Where's my eggs?"

That's a tough list to make. It's easy to think of HORRIBLE songs in otherwise great movies, but not so much the other way around.

15. Flash (Queen) from Flash Gordon

Sorry, but Queen's Flash soundtrack was pretty dreadful. They were on a good run up til then, too. They were coming off "The Game", which was probably my favorite Queen album.

Also thought Against All Odds, Desperately Seeking Susan, and Less Than Zero weren't horrible films. And if you're going to pick a "Xanadu" song, I'd go with "Magic".

And... Rick Springfield's best song? Nut-uh.

Yeah, but the lyrics were genius, dude.

I tried some of that. The roaches were swimming in it, mocking me. Didn't kill shiat.

I liked View to a Kill. Christopher Walken, come on.

Most of the songs on that list suck, BTW.

kronicfeld [TotalFark] 2008-03-02 08:41:46 AM
What, no "Torgo's Theme" from "Manos: Hands of Fate"?

gregoire4 2008-03-02 08:44:44 AM
The Golden Child? NO movie with Randall Tex Cobb in it has ever sucked.

FeedTheCollapse 2008-03-02 08:51:21 AM
hillary: I still like View to a Kill

a bad film with probably the worst James Bond title track. Yes, even worse than Madonna's Die Another Day.

tequilasundae 2008-03-02 09:01:32 AM
ST elmos fire is the worst song EVER!!...how a song about a guy in a wheelchair had anything to do with strung out yuppies...

my theory was the suits in the studio asked parr for a song, had a deadline, heard it and asked him where the title reference was..so he threw it in.

Then saw my horrible spelling blunder.

I blame Hillary.

Lessee...
I was just listening to this soundtrack on my way home from work
"Telephone Line" - ELO - from the 1977 movie Joyride with Desi Arnaz, Jr.

maxx2112 2008-03-02 09:36:10 AM
B-b-but, Flash Gordon is the bestest movie . . . evah!

About once a year I grab it from one of the movie channels. That's shiat's still so-bad-it's-good 27 years later. If you watch it back-to-back with Strange Brew and Conan, you'll enter a Max von Sydow paradox vortex of bad-good-moviedom. All in all, it's not a bad way to spend a Saturday if you've got a couple of hoagies, a bag of chips and six of lager handy.

/ This movie was shot in 3B - three beers - and it looks good, eh?

gregoire4 2008-03-02 09:43:06 AM
Fleshy Headed Mutants from 2051 AD.

"Is Your Love Strong Enough" by Bryan Ferry is awesome.
I recall David Gilmour played guitar.

Also,is Flash Gordon an "awful" movie?

I thought it was pretty cool.

Obvious and deliberate campy and over the top-like comic book style action. People still don't get this?

Superb Queen soundtrack clearly reflected that.

Sorry.

THIS (new window)

Mugato [TotalFark] 2008-03-02 10:41:57 AM
Flash Gordon had a horrible soundtrack. Luckily, Queen redeemed themselves with Highlander.

I can't say whethe ror no Flash Gordon the movie was good or not. It's hard to review a movie that goes out of its way to purposely be extra cheesy and lame. But that evil princess was hot.

Mugato [TotalFark] 2008-03-02 10:42:44 AM
Jebus, I must have suffered a head injury that I don't remember before typing that.

GungFu 2008-03-02 10:58:00 AM
Is Flash Gordon by Queen one of the first examples to use dialogue samples from movies?

Just wondering.

/Gordon's alive...alive
//Send war rocket Ajax and bring back his body...
//likes the OST and film for what it is - cheesy fun

Welcome to the Machine [TotalFark] 2008-03-02 10:59:58 AM
All of those movies and songs suck(ed). The eighties was such a vacuum of good music and film, with a few exceptions.
I caught Purple Rain on TV the other day, and it is REALLY bad.
Most anything that involved the bratpack was garbage.
ElO ceased to be after Out of the Blue.
Queen was terrible after News of the World. (Kind of Magic was a little redeeming)
The rest of the list is simply crap 80's pop.

/I can't believe Phil Collins was actually a member of Genesis. He should turn in his cool card.

GungFu 2008-03-02 11:03:00 AM
The winner:

Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now - Starship.

Better, the song that opened the movie, "One of the Living"

Both were written by Holly Knight

In-A-Gadda-Da-Vita was on the Less Than Zero soundtrack.
What, no props for Slayer?

How dare he call Short Circuit a bad film? That was a tremendous cinematic achievement. When I was about 7, anyway. I obtained it a while back but deliberately haven't watched it because I'm afraid of discovering that he's right and it is actually a bunch of arse.

Buttle not Tuttle 2008-03-02 12:15:28 PM
"Broken Bicycles" and "You Can't Unring a Bell" from "One From the Heart"

"Bust a deal--face the wheel!"

Jeez.

Lighten the f*ck up farkers.

Films like Flash Gordon and Beyond Thunderdome are awesome.

Take a couple bong hits and crack open a tall boy if needed.

I suppose you uptight folks hate Cherry 2000 as well.

CrackedEgg 2008-03-02 12:20:01 PM
Roger Daltrey singing "Quicksilver". Thought this movie was so damned cool when I was about 12. (not a Rick Roll)

gregoire4 2008-03-02 12:28:53 PM
Sgt. Pepper's with the Bee Gees and Peter Frampton was one of the greatest movies ever made. At least that's what I thought at the time. I can't watch it now because I know I'll be so disappointed I'll hurt myself on purpose.

20. Against All Odds (Phil Collins) from Against All Odds

Four words to refute this idiot entry.

RACHEL WARD SEX SCENE.

How about:
Tears in Heaven from the movie Rush?

dictyboy 2008-03-02 12:45:34 PM
What, no "Acid Queen"(Tina Turner) from Tommy?

Bob Down: I'd go with most of those and maybe a couple more from Electric Dreams

If you speak ill of Electric Dreams again I will become very irate with you!!

It's actually an interesting list, but the concept of the blog behind it is pretty much irredeemably douchy, down to that embarrassing picture of the guy with the Ray-Bans on.

Maximum Overdrive...Awful? Does not compute.

Honey, this machine just called me an asshole!

1 ok song, 20 bad movies

Assgasket 2008-03-02 01:26:41 PM
How about NIN's "Perfect Drug" from Lost Highway?

Or, well, *everything* by the Talking Heads from True Stories?

Superskeptic: How about:

No, you got it wrong.

Its GOOD song, BAD movie. Not the other way around.

The opening theme song from Private School....pure unadulterated genius!

JosephFinn 2008-03-02 01:55:07 PM
19/20 for that list, very respectable! Their only misfire is on calling Golden Child a bad movie, which is just ridiculous.

HBK 2008-03-02 03:42:40 PM
Weird Science by Oingo Boingo.
