God, these feminists that are all "Vote for Hillary because she's a woman" make me sick.

You're electing someone to lead your country, for Fark's sake. Not appear in a beauty pageant. If you want to vote Hillary, vote for her because she has the platform you believe in, not because "OMG it's a woman!!".

Robobuu 2008-03-02 05:57:43 AM
FTFA: "They're running to the rock star, to the momentum, to the excitement," said Ewing, a family law attorney who chairs the Dallas County Democratic Party. "And I am worried that if Hillary doesn't get elected, I am never going to see a woman president in my lifetime. I do think her chances are slipping away, and it [ticks] me off."

So it's ok to follow a candidate because of gender, but when people follow someone who is popular it is blaspheme. Right... stupid coont.

There's a damn good reason we never let women vote for most of American history.

LonMead 2008-03-02 06:01:15 AM
"Drift away from Clinton frustrates many women" (fta)

Well, at least one woman, anyway...

JQPublic [TotalFark] 2008-03-02 06:06:56 AM
WOW! I read the article only to see if Billie Jean King, one of the greatest tennis players in history, actually said something so stupid. She actually did say that. WOW!

Her WHOLE life! Down the drain. OMFG!

Shaggy_C 2008-03-02 06:07:41 AM
Billy Jean is not for Obama...She's just a girl, who votes for o-o-ther girls...Because they have a coont

Screw Obama, I'm voting for Sampras.

Reading that article reminded me of when I went to Berkeley, when everything was a ridiculous abstract debate of gender and race, while the real world made the actual decisions.

Thanks for bringing up that painful memory, subby.

What? 15 years of denying boys an equal opportunity in sports wasn't enough for her? I guess we have to elect a woman president JUST because she's a woman?

I still admire her for what she did for my daughter, but I've got a godson that plays hockey and lacrosse.

Girls' lacrosse, with fewer teams, fewer players, less history is sanctioned and funded in MO while boys lax is a pay as you go club sport.

/no boys can't join the girls' teams.
// good for the girls, but the boys want equal rights

Silly libtards. I'll toss this logic out to them - You are racists because you aren't supporting Obama. Same farking logic that they are trying to use.

Ah, angry shriveled old feminazis. Shrillary's core only remaining demographic.

With one or two notable exceptions, every time I see or hear a news outlet interview a self-identified Hillary voter, they're always an angry and/or bitter woman over 50, usually with some sort of Northeastern accent. It seems that, "Vote for me! I pretend I have ovaries!" is the only campaign strategy that's actually working for her.

Mr Logo 2008-03-02 06:40:56 AM
I think it is sad to see the women who pioneered womens rights degenerate into such undignified stupidity.

/Sad, but fitting.

"white women are more oppressed than black men" say gloria steinem

Jeez, now they are arguing over who was more oppressed? How about who is most qualified? This election is getting stupid.

Mr Logo 2008-03-02 06:46:12 AM
Jookypirate: "white women are more oppressed than black men" say gloria steinem

I seem to recall that in any year, one in four black men will spend time in prison.

/I think it is one in four. It's definitely more than one in ten.

One in ten black men are currently incarcerated. One out of three black men aged 18 to 39 will be jailed, imprisoned, or on parole or probation at some point in their lives. There are three times more black men aged 18-25 in prison than in college dorms.

Occam's Chainsaw [TotalFark] 2008-03-02 06:50:47 AM
One black male in ten IS incarcerated. Blegh, my English am failing this morning.

Jookypirate 2008-03-02 06:59:22 AM
Hey guys- I'm not on steinem's side. I'm just pointing out what she says in the article. I know Black men have a far greater disadvantage compared to white women.

/Obama 08 because he is the better candidate

Understood. I was helping Mr Logo out with the numbers side of things.

Steinem needs to get her eyes checked; I think her overabundance of X chromosomes are causing her to magnify the size of sexist discrimination.

/I'll just go be white and male in the corner. Don't mind me, minority populations who dominate policy.

It's politics, not some crappy gender studies class.

Either are acceptable.

One in ten black men is plural (you are talking about men) and one black male in ten is singular (you are talking about one black male).

What a wonderful example of willful blindness.

You forgot Wyoming. (new window)

ElPresidente [TotalFark] 2008-03-02 07:13:23 AM
Wait a minute. People vote for candidates because of the race or gender they like? And all this time, I've been voting for the person I thought was the best person for the role and for the country. I've been doing it wrong all these years? What a silly bunt I am!

Now if I can just get Halle Berry to run for office, I'll be OK.

Billy Jean Bulldagger. Killed her baby on national TV back in the 70's. She's just so freaking hip. Why doesn't anyone ask her how old that kid would be now instead of quoting her on who she wants to be president?

/On second thought, glorify the ugly (in appearance and spirit) old battleax. She shows everyone just what Madame Clinton stands for.

Yes. Because the good of the nation depends on whether you see a woman president in YOUR lifetime.

Nope, nothing selfish in her reasoning.

Wait, are you saying a person can win when competing against someone twenty years past their prime?

varmitydog 2008-03-02 08:33:55 AM
TheCid; Billy Jean King had an abortion in 1971 and allowed it to be shown on 60 Minutes. At that time Roe versus Wade had not been passed, and it made her the darling of the free choice crowd. A bulldagger is slang for a female butch lesbian.

"Gender," wrote Steinem, "is probably the most restricting force in American life, whether the question is who must be in the kitchen or who could be in the White House. . . . Black men were given the vote a half-century before women of any race were allowed to mark a ballot"

And white women were given the right not not be slaves plowing fields in the US before blacks of any gender were.

madmann [TotalFark] 2008-03-02 08:35:15 AM
I get this at work all the time. We have several women where I work who, shall we say, are ONLY interested in women's issues (and short shag haircuts).

They all act like I'm a traitor anytime I say anything negative about Hillary. Traitor? I'm not even a lesbian to begin with!

They're upset because, ya know, I hate Hillary because she has a vagina. Even though I happen to be a huge vagina fan. No wait, strike that, I'm a huge fan of vagina. There, that's better. Yeah, because there COULD BE no other explanation than that. Not her vote on the war, not using the same slimy "fear" campaign tactics^ as the current Administration, not her claiming time as First Lady as political experience, not her asshat husband acting like he's going to get 4 more years... Nope, it's just her sex.

Some people have really simplistic world views. Some people are really farkin' stupid.

If Obama were an older woman, I'd still vote for him over a younger male Hillary, black or white or whatever. His qualities beyond race, age, and gender are just superior.

And Hillary plays to them. There are people who are voting for Obama because he is black, to be sure, but Obama never actually says you should do that. Hillary always says "having a woman in the white house would be a great thing blah blah blah."

farking disgusting.

Gosling [TotalFark] 2008-03-02 08:40:46 AM
If you want a woman President, run a more qualified woman next time. Snowe works, Napolitano or Sabelius if Obama doesn't snap one of them up.

gilgigamesh: Even though I'm convinced Obama is the better candidate here, they are 100% right about the casual misogyny that gets tossed around over Clinton.

There are millions of men and woman who want Hillary to be voted in purely because they like the idea of a female president. That's just as much misandry against the male candidate as anything being said about Hillary.

Bullshiat. People confuse ridicule for sexism. Many of us hate Hillary Clinton, so we insult her, and often use female insults, just like we insult Michael Moore by making fat jokes. It doesn;'t mean we hate them *becasue* they are female or fat, that's just fodder for humorous insults. When you mock someone, you use whatever character traits you can get your hands on.
