Sweet. But whatever happened to Dick and Steve? Wish there were clips of the band with them. This line-up just ain't the same.

I'm guessing they said
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo

Holly came from miami f.l.a.
Hitch-hiked her way across the u.s.a.

Plucked her eyebrows on the way
Shaved her legs and then he was a she
She says, hey babe, take a walk on the wild side
Said, hey honey, take a walk on the wild side

TommyymmoT [TotalFark] 2008-03-02 02:40:58 AM
Why does everyone always bring up "Wild Side"? It's not some of his better work.

GRINGOS! TOURISTA!

Yeah. The guit-playing on R&R Animal was so fuggin' good. It still sounds good. I must've played that album a billion times. That and Allman Bros at Fillmore East were just about all I listened to in the first year or two of high school.

May be true, but New York and Magic and Loss are freaking great albums.

The Between Thought and Expression box set has about a 2 1/2 minute snippet of MMM on it. That's about all anyone really needs of it, I think.

Oh, and through some bizarre quirk of ITunes pricing, you can download the whole damn box set, 46 songs, for $9.99. It's the deal of the century.

Yeah, someone's gonna biatch that it's protected, you can't put it on anything but an IPod, blah blah blah -- it's 46 songs for $10, dude.

OMG those graphics look so old... i'm guessing late 80's/early 90's?
And what Lou Reed says made me Laugh Out Loud...literally... i don't do that often...so thanks for the link and the laugh.
btw, love those slow silent pauses between the dialogues.
What he says goes by kinda quickly, so here it is: [transcribed by me]
"It's the impossible level, boys. Impossible doesn't mean very difficult, very difficult is winning the nobel prize. Impossible is eating the Sun."

My vote for best LR song.

Or Andy's Chest.

Or Satellite of love

Whatever. It's on Transformer.

For years, I didn't get Lou Reed: he couldn't really sing
and his lyrics were weird.

Until it was pointed out to me that poetry didn't have to
rhyme, and that you didn't need rhythym to have soul.

THAT'S when I got him and his stuff.

/SWEET JANE is a masterpiece on a par with anything WH Auden has done

Andy, it's me, haven't seen you in a while
I wished I talked to you more when you were alive
I thought you were self-assured when you acted shy
hello it's me

I really miss you, I really miss your mind
I haven't heard ideas like that in such a long, long time
I loved to watch you draw and watch you paint
but when I saw you last, I turned away

When Billy Name was sick and locked up in his room
you asked me for some speed, I though it was for you
I'm sorry that I doubted your good heart
things always seem to end before they start

Hello it's me, that was a great gallery show
your cow wallpaper and your floating silver pillows
I wish I paid more attention when they laughed at you
hello it's me

Pop goes pop artist, the headline said
Is shooting a put-on, is Warhol really dead
You get less time for stealing a car
I remember thinking as I heard my own record in a bar

They really hated you, now all that's changed
but I have some resentments that can never be unmade
You hit me where it hurt I didn't laugh
your diaries are not a worthy epitaph

Oh well, now Andy, guess we've got to go
I wish some way somehow you like this little show
I know it's late in coming but it's the only way I know
hello it's me

Goodnight, Andy

Goodbye, Andy

/Happy Birthday Lou

I never really got Lou Reed 'til I picked up a used German vinyl copy of "Transformer" for 2 bucks.

Holy crap, it's a fantastic album. One of the greatest rock albums ever made, IMO.

So, happy birthday, Lou.

Perfect Day

"Just A Perfect Day,
Drink Sangria In The Park,
And Then Later, When It Gets Dark,
We Go Home.
Just A Perfect Day,
Feed Animals In The Zoo
Then Later, A Movie, Too,
And Then Home.

Oh It's Such A Perfect Day,
I'm Glad I Spent It With You.
Oh Such A Perfect Day,
You Just Keep Me Hanging On,
You Just Keep Me Hanging On.

Just A Perfect Day,
Problems All Left Alone,
Weekenders On Our Own.
It's Such Fun.
Just A Perfect Day,
You Made Me Forget Myself.
I Thought I Was Someone Else,
Someone Good.

Oh It's Such A Perfect Day,
I'm Glad I Spent It With You.
Oh Such A Perfect Day,
You Just Keep Me Hanging On,
You Just Keep Me Hanging On.

You're Going To Reap Just What You Sow,
You're Going To Reap Just What You Sow,
You're Going To Reap Just What You Sow,
You're Going To Reap Just What You Sow..."

Thanks for derailing The Killers, Lou Reed. Tranquilize sucked, and the rest of that album sucked too. Quit riding "Walk on the Wild Side"... that horse is tired. You left any talent you had in 1971... except that the Velvet Underground is self absorbed, pseudo-arteest gunk. There... I said it.

Blaud 2008-03-05 09:24:25 PM
LOL, I'm going to derail the Killers.
