Except

a) Gimme Shelter was written by KEITH - after Mick had filmed a scene for Performance with Anita Pallenberg, in which he all but farked her on camera. There is an outtake of it with KEITH on the lead vocal.

b) Gimme Shelter was released on Let it Bleed before Altamont - and was actually PERFORMED at the show - the only time they played it the whole 1969 tour.

And they knew the Angels were after them - on the 72 tour, when they were in NY, they had cops all over the floor of the hotel they were at.

Yeah, the Stones really suffered from farking w/the Angels.

Seems they weren't very committed to the cause if they gave up because their canoe tipped over.

Mick is a rock singer. And a really good one, but he would have just gotten his ass shot. As far as people who ride motorcyles and trash bars, commit rape and stab poeple at random for "dissing" them, what would they be without the motorcycles?

I saw something like that on a VH1 "Behind the Music" thing or such on Altamont, maybe even a show on the History Channel. Regardless, I remember one of the Angels there being interviewed for the show and him saying how much Jagger disgusted him and such.

On a related note, a friend on mine is Oakland PD and he claims the group the cops there are most concerened with are the Hells Angels.
