Stupid kids let their cars coast along at 3 miles per hour and dance around them. That is a crime worth investigating? That is a traffic ticket at most - a civil violation, not a crime.

Holy geez if it bothered the neighbors that much they would have called the cops and not run for their instamatics.

Do you see...
9/11 was the beginning...
Now they fascists are using the internet to track our every move...
It is no longer safe for us to post videos of violations for friends and randomn strangers enjoyment, without having to worry of a cop or CIA agent on the other end of the internets....

Never reveal anything online - a horde of bored and sleuthy narcs WILL make it their life's work to turn you in.

Easy enough to do with a stick too. You can coast in first gear, just have to get it going first.

I did something like this years ago in a big empty parking lot while trying to figure out where a scraping noise in a wheel was coming from. Got it coasting in first, got out, and walked next to it listening. Never did figure out the noise, but it was odd watching my car driving a long by itself.

Doing it on a street or neighborhood, though, is dumb. Sure, it's slow, but if the car needed to be moved quickly (ambulance coming, kid running out in front of it, whatever) then you couldn't. I think it's worth tracking down.

Darwin is pleased by this form of teenage rebelliousness. Maybe these kids can ghost-ride over to a power substation and try and steal some live copper wiring.

If someone creates a fake clip showing them doing something that would be illegal if it was real, will they get arrested?

If they did the same thing except put someone else in the video would that someone else be arrested?

If a kid decides to run out in front of a vehicle traveling less than 5MPH with people walking around it, gets caught by surprise, and then gets run over the lil' dude is no loss. He's probably helmet-wearing retarded anyway. The kind of retarded that will grow up and start getting out of moving vehicles and walking beside them.

Calcasieu: 'Ghostriding the Whip'? That has to be the most retarded thing I've ever seen in my life.

Why do I have this feeling that this is something dumb and lame that these kids made up on the spur of the moment, let some idiot cameraman film and post, and that they've never done before in their lives and will never do again?

I know kids do a lot of dumbass stuff, but "ghostriding the whip" just seems way too tame and boring. If they were riding on the hood at 150 mph I might buy it, but this looks too safe to be anything besides made up.

And also the cops believe it, which means it can't be anything but fake.

Very, very real.

Ghostriding. Let me show you it. (new window, not RR, promise)

Befuddled 2008-03-01 10:16:37 PM
As far as stupid things kids do, ghostriding isn't all that bad. I'd rather see dumbass kids doing that than street racing. At least the accident will be smaller.

Constance Velocity 2008-03-01 10:17:02 PM
"Ghostriding?"

I expected something far more awesome than a car rolling with a bunch of dipshiats dancing around it. That's not "Ghostriding." There's no ghosts and no riding going on.

More like a retard fire-drill.

We did FAR more dangerous things in our cars and managed to not get caught doing it.

Amateurs.

No. No he doesn't. He thinks they're stupid.

OOH Google "Ghostrider" images, post a pic and type "Approves!" Edgy!

That was an awesome story all-round. Putting people on camera who don't want to be identified and saying they have evidence to the case, kids on camera talking about it and the shock and horror of the whole ordeal.
