They should just start tattooing their birthyear on them as a tramp stamp.

It'd resolve all sorts of issues.

In some cultures, tattooing doesn't have the stigma that we've attached to it. It's even considered part of becoming an adult and people without some kind of tattoo are considered children. Even in our culture, tattooing has undergone a shift in my life time. When I was a kid, only 'bad people' got a tattoo. Nowadays, it's common and has only a mild stigma, if any at all.

I bet it was just lazy writing/editing. I was always taught that the first time a number is used in a sentence it should be written out, and after that it's okay to use numbers themselves (with some exceptions, of course). Their spell-checker probably did this for them automatically, and they were too lazy to proof-read their article.

So you're saying it's a good idea for someone, not properly licensed, to be tramp stamping someone else's kids without their permission? We got rid of the whole "tribal" living thing a long time ago. It doesn't work.

Regardless of what you think of tattoos on the whole, it's ridiculous to do a permanent body modification when you still have a decade of growth to go. That stamp will go from reading "Pretty Lady" to "Pretty Sad" pretty fast.

thirty-8 is proper for broadcast writing. It is easier to read from a tele-prompter.

This is probably the same copy.

I never go the whole tramp stamp thing. I like back belt tattoos, properly done they can be beautiful. A tattoo makes someone a slut? Next up, the fact that I don't have a tan means I'm goth. Riiiight.

I used to work for a photolab and you would be amazed at how many senior pictures that came through had these high school kids with tattoos, some of them pretty eloborate, the kind that takes several sessions and at least $1000 to complete. I know a lot of kids graduate at the age of 8teen ( see what I did there?) but there are jsut as many that are still 7teen when they graduate.

I think somewhere the law is getting a little bit ignored.

I don't understand how Borg naming conventions work. It made sense for Hue to be 3rd of 5 because there were 5 guys assigned to the particular ship he was on at the time. Presumably he would have changed designations on his next assignment.

But 7 of 9 was on a giant freaking cube when they picked her up. There had to have been more than 9 drones staffing that thing.
(while writing this, I realized... was she on the cube when she said her name, or on Voyager? I guess if they had sent 9 drones down to Voyager...)

But why was Hue 3rd of 5, and Seven wasn't 7th of 9?

mathmancometh 2008-03-01 03:56:08 PM
Absolutely not, start tattooing them young. With genetic history, breast size of mother, etc so you know what to expect over the long haul.

The slogan on New Hampshire license plates is 'Live Free or Die'. These license plates are manufactured by prisoners in the state prison in Concord, NH.

By "bad" do you mean "stupid"? Because that's how it still is. That's why we call them tramp stamps.
