That really sucks...they put on a hell of a show back in the day.

Biafra offered to sign Conley and MIA to his Alternative Tentacles label that night. Biafra said Conley's distinctive voice was one of the factors that made the band stick out.

That's really saying something...when Biafra thinks your voice is distinctive.

Yeah well a lot of people would blow Jello just because he was a beacon of anti-authority in a time when that just wasn't cool. Lots of people did it. He certainly didn't innovate or bring anything new to the table musically.. shiat he didn't even get as far into politics as some bands at the time. I know he's all indie and whatever, but seriously why so much love?

Are any of these reasons why Biafra's voice shouldn't be considered unique or distinctive?

All DK songs are political, and farking genius for that matter. Go download "Bedtime for Democracy" if you have forgotten. Have you never listened to the huge amounts of spoken word diatribes that Jello has put out since DK? He's as political as he can be. These days he is more involved at a local level outside of the spoken word tours. Not to mention, that he is responsible for making thousands of punks think about social and political issues instead of getting high.

Why is this front page instead of showbiz? Is there a moderator with a hard on for obscure old anti-authority bands?

I'm sure the 40 something pot smoking crowd is devastated.

Damn catchy tune. I like M.I.A. in that sense, she's not afraid to experiment with her work. Too bad she's gone all weird, she seemed to be more relaxed and personal a few years ago.

No disrespect to this dude, but I don't know why this is big news. Perhaps it's not. Perhaps I get my "big news" from Fark.

Continuing my "no disrespect" line... RIP, whoever the heck you were.

Not to be a dick or anything, but I think we should hire someone to show up at nashBridges funeral to go around telling people how it's not really a big deal because he never really did anything with his life, anyways.

Gregory F. Stuart: Oh, so this is the thread where all the self-appointed, cynical, know-it-all, douchebag, hipster would-be critics are hiding in today. How's it going, guys?!

For every Farker who likes it, there's at least 100 Farkers who hate it, and three-quarters of them hate it only because other people like it.

Getting a hole punched in your skull blunt-force outside of O'hare... tell me that doesn't sound like a "neighborhood loan" gone bad.

It's sad when anyone dies, but they should have just kept this on the Showbiz page. Sorry, but it's just not "Not News" page material. Not saying that this didn't deserve a greenlight, but not to this page.

RIP Mr. Conley

Death by blunt force trauma - told you he was hardcore (punk).

At least he didn't die like the some 'aging hippy' OC punks like to rail on so much.

nashBridges: The question at hand is whether or not Mike Conley warrants a thread.

Actually, the real question at hand is why you're spending so much time and effort to post so many times in a thread that you obviously have so little interest in, with no purpose other than to tell us that it doesn't interest you.

Unright 2008-03-01 10:27:35 AM

Hey look, your name is in bold again! You're welcome.

nashBridges: It's farking Saturday morning and I don't feel like viewing the Caturday thread.

There's an entire internet out there, if this one thread bores you.

Or there's also this other thing called "real life" which I'm told can be interesting from time to time...

ranold 2008-03-01 10:31:46 AM

Fair enough.

Don't call me chief.

Nicknames are rude, asshole.

You seem like a happy man.

I saw this band in 86 I think and Compared to Jello he had a very normal voice. First heard about them on the Not So Quiet on the Western Front comp. Still curious about what caused the injury.
