this is about 1/10th as exciting as El Vez.

He's actually one of my students, well sort of, he's only been in my class 5 times this semester due to all his appearance. Its kinda sad though that he looks like he might be dropping out for the whole music thing. Just worried that while a 15 year old who sounds like Cash is a wonder, a 30 year old is just some one playing in a tribute show at some casino. He is a really great kid though, soft spoken and intelligent, I wish him the best of luck.

shoot that first line should say appearances, he's doing a lot of shows, not that he looks funny. oops

Sure it may be sour grapes from a bitter man never getting a link approved but lithappens, you are held in high esteem

They had a expose on him on the local nighttime "magazine" show - seems like a laid-back kid. Missing from this story: Mira's already recorded an album at Johnny's old studio, produced by John Carter Cash (Johnny's son), and has recorded originals in addition to covers.

A much more comprehensive story is here:

I just re-watched his cover of "Hurt" on YouTube. Still puts a lump in my throat.

I don't really care about that beaner one way or another but the Sirloin Stockade looks like my kind of place.

/so let me get this straight
//it's got steaks, a buffet AND a bakery?

If he's smart, he'll never sing another note. Nothing kills a career like being "just like" someone famous and inimitable.

Especially someone like Johnny Cash.

This kid is good, but not the best soundalike ever. That would have to be Jimmy "Orion" Ellis. This guy sounded EXACTLY like Elvis.

Unfortunately, he was killed a few years ago in a robbery.

Yeah, just wait til this kid hits it big w/ the Cash covers, then tries to do his own music.

Failboat indeed.

He sounds pretty close, but Zackdale's right. It's cool, but only special because of his age. Actually, there's a lot of people out there who can change the sound of their voice to match people they are trying to sound like when they are signing.

If that's his natural signing voice (I doubt it), then he's going to be unpleasantly surprised as his voice continues to change and he stops sounding like Johnny Cash in his mid twenties.

He needs to either start focusing on his own work RIGHT NOW, or start thinking about a more traditional career.

Don't vote pls k thx.

Well, especially considering his age, he's certainly got a commanding voice & can carry a tune. But he does not, as the story says "sound exactly like" Johnny Cash. No way.

If he hones his own style he may go somewhere, though.

Zombie Johnny Cash says, "BRRAAAIINNNSSS!"

superspeck 2008-03-01 08:03:43 PM
kid aint got no twang or cocaine... fail

gcruse 2008-03-01 10:33:38 PM
He sounds less like Johnny Cash than he does Bob Wills {think Cocaine Blues from the Scarface video game}.

SuburbanCowboy 2008-03-02 04:53:35 PM
He sounded like a bad Cash impersonator.

Mandy Barnett made a name for herself by sounding exactly like Patsy Cline. That is a tough one to match.

srtpointman 2008-03-04 09:16:54 AM
Wouldn't a better name be Johnny Peso? Just a suggestion.
