I have a weird first name, I tried to not use it when I was in elementary and middle school, I went by my middle name. When I got to high school I switched to my first name. I wasn't trying to play victim, I just stopped caring what people thought. Also it was cool to be called on and know I was being addressed and not wonder if it was one of the 7 other people in class that had the same name.

The nice thing about anesthetic is it usually wears off pretty quick. I think he's playing fast and loose, a little God complex going on. The more time he spends clashing with Republicans, especially McCain and Bush, the less attention Hillary gets and the more Obama looks like the party's standard bearer and presumptive nominee. It is staying on target because stuff like this continues to push Hillary out of the equation and out of the news cycles.

Actually this isn't a bad strategy at all. No one, who is thinking about voting for the guy, or considering supporting him, cares about his middle name. The only people who will make an issue of it, how ever it's obfuscated, were never going to vote for him anyway.

This is is way of controlling the media. You accomplish two things: 1) You get to denounce the opposition. 2) You garner media attention, assuring the issue *will* come up in a future debate.

I'm conflicted about Obama. I'm encouraged by his willingness to try some things differently, such as universal health care and less aggressive/confrontational foreign policy.

However his domestic platform will only expand the power of government, and I can't shake the feeling in my bones that that's the wrong way to maintain individual liberty.

I'd give him a chance for 4 years... it's not like anything productive has come out of the last 8.
