I saw Ace last month (New Year's Eve) in Allentown, Pa. He was a little shaky, but by the third song he sounded and played really well.
Rock On, Ace!

I love posthumous albums, it gives me the feeling that the artist is still alive.

I'm going to see him at the House of Blues @Mandalay Bay next month. Really looking forward to it. I'm also not going to have my expectations set too high.

It must suck to know that you can be replaced by anyone who can play a guitar and wear silver and white face paint.

Boobies: How do we know? Ace is back 'cause he told blabbermouth.net so.

Beautifully done, sir. The second worst song in the history of rock 'n roll. Of course I have it on my i-pod.

I am going to see him a week from today. I have heard a recording from his present tour and he doesn't sound too bad!

I would much rather see Ace solo than Kiss with Gene, Paul and two nobodys pretending to be Ace and Peter.

nopokerface [TotalFark] 2008-02-29 07:41:27 AM
Did anyone else see him on that poker tournament among rock stars? He was hilarious.

Yup, and Ace is a fairly normal looking guy. Gene and Paul are both rather scary in their own way. They needed the face paint.

Sounds like some fan is having a hard time dealing with Ace's untimely demise. That is sad, but they will eventually come to terms with it.

busy chillin': Kiss sucks major ass

If you analyze their musical talents, it's very true. However, their stage show is the paradigm of what makes rock shows great. Thei songs are catchy, and mercifully short (except for 100,000 years, which seems about that long). Ace may be the worst guitar player ever to get paid to play, but he rocks because of the remorseless fashion in which he deals with that truth.

Archie Godwin: I call it the C.C. Deville Syndrome.

Damn, why does everybody have to hate on the fun guys in rock? C.C. puts on a helluva show. His licks are very catchy, and he too admits he is no virtuoso. He wrote Talk Dirty to Me in high school, if you can't get in a good mood listening to that song, there is little hope for you.

hogans 2008-02-29 12:07:23 PM
I saw Frehley's Comet open for Iron Maiden back in 1988(?). I don't remember any of it, so he couldn't have been that good.

Come on, he's not THAT bad. He's not Steve Vai by any means, but there have been far, far, FAR worse. Yes I'm looking at YOU, Kurt Cobain's Rotting Corpse.

I never said he didn't put on a good show, just that he can't play guitar worth a shiat.

Well thank God for you, Citizen.

Who knows how many guitar wonks were sitting out there with their laptops perched on top of a stack of Guitar for the Practicing Musician magazines, saying to themselves, "Well, Ace Frehley and Al Di Meola are both going to be in town, AND I JUST CAN'T DECIDE WHICH ONE TO SEE!"
