Well I take offence to the media use of John "Sidney" McCain. In the 1980's Tony Randall played Sidney Shore an openly gay artist in the TV series "Love Sidney" & McCain shares a first name with Irish Republican Army terrorist John Redmond By using John "Sidney" McCain the leftist media is trying to imply that John McCain is some sort of closet terrorist fag.

A sample of freeper quotes from the linked thread:

If you think obama is better than McCain, you are delusional.
McCain has his faults but is way better than the mooslimb crackhead.

Vote for McInsane or Death by Ugga-Bugga? Decisions, decisions, decisions

Death to islam. I am now and will always be, a sworn enemy of all things muslim.

Rush is using his power to prevent conservatives from speaking of the possibility that Obama is a Moslem within inches of becoming President. What if he is?
Because Islam is going to take over the White House because Rush and everyone else won't let us take it seriously?

If America is not a Christian nation, it will be part of the Islamic nation. Take your pick.

My assertion of freepers being xenophobic sexist racist douchebags (from the greenlighted Bill Cunningham thread a couple of days ago) stands.

Bwahahaha; this is why Republicans are going to lose big this year: Because their ranks have been reduced to name-callers and those that hope name-calling will work. All tactic, no substance as usual, but that ain't enough to carry it this year, fellas. Go ahead, take a look at the percentage of Americans identifying themselves as Republicans, as opposed to just 4 years ago. You guys are in real trouble.

Why do you want to use his middle name but don't use Senator McCain or Clinton's middle name?

I love how the characterization of Obama changes over time.
Freeper:He's obviously a Muslim.
Normal: No, he's been going to Christian Church for years.
Freeper: Then he's a cryptomuslim!
Freeper 2: His church is actually a Islam disguised as Christianity!
Freeper 3: And if it's not, the mooslimbs will kill him for leaving their cult!
Normal:...

I have a confession to make. I'm one, at most two degrees of separation away from Saddam Hussein, and I donated to the Obama campaign. Shhh, don't tell the Freepers.

Now that this little bit of information has sunk in, I suppose I should mention the rest of the story. Basically, last summer while on vacation I spent an afternoon hanging out in Athens with a guy who worked as a translator/censor for the Iraqi state TV station run by one of Saddam's sons. He'd met the son, but I'm not sure whether he'd ever met Saddam, hence the question of whether it's just one degree or two degrees separation. In any case, the reason he wound up in Greece was because he didn't censor something enough and pissed off Saddam, so he had to escape across the border into Turkey to avoid getting thrown into jail.

/Totally harmless, but I could make it sound salacious if I wanted to
//Which is how guilt by association works

I know, I know, I'm a horrible person. Which is why I probably shouldn't mention that I also know some Serbs with the last name of Milosevic. And even though they're no relation, and were involved in the peaceful revolution that overthrew Slobodan Milosevic, they've GOT THE SAME LAST NAME! HOW DO WE KNOW IF THEY'RE REALLY OK!!???

Just to be on the safe side, I think you should repeat their names over and over again on the Internet, with Milosevic emphasized.

Meh...so his parents gave him the name Hussein...big deal. It's not Obama's fault he shares his middle name with a vicious dictator. At least McCain recognizes that this is not the way to go about debating Obama.

Too bad black conservatives are rarely offered the same level of respect by their opponents in politics and the media.

His middle name is not insulting.

Using his middle name is not insulting.

What IS insulting is that the people who CONSTANTLY say "Barrack Hussein Obama" put emphasis on "Hussein" because they want to associate the guy with Saddam, and it was the same farkers who say "Obama, Osama... one letter apart... you do the math".

It's their intention behind it, and you know it.

This has to be the first (US) election where citizens are not allowed to refer to one of the leading candidates by his LEGAL name.

Headso 2008-02-29 07:40:55 AM
The only people who would care about his middle name are the xenophobic, racist wing of the GOP and they would never vote Democrat anyway, Using his middle name like some grade school taunt isn't going to gain you any respect with moderates that like both candidates. It's going to make you look like douchebags, as a matter of fact it already has.

ilambiquated 2008-02-29 07:54:49 AM
Hussein is, in fact, an extremely common name.

It was not the name of an Iraqi dictator, it was his father's name. Saddam didn't really have a family name. He was just Saddam. Al Tikriti means his family comes from Tikrit. His father was not called Hussein Hussein.

The whole thing is funny in two ways:

1) Americans confuse the dictator with his father because they just assume that everyone has a last name.
2) Americans never heard of anyone with that name, because they know nothing about other cultures.

Less funny is the total failure of our foreign policy that is based on the same level of ignorance.

Well, you can't deny the fun in watching people who are ostensibly adults acting like third graders who found out that the boy who sits in front of them has the middle name "Francis."

Exactly. The people who speak his full name are acting like third graders and the people responding to it with indignation are acting like third graders. It brings everyone down, but it is not because the first set force everyone else down, it is because the second set willingly jump down into the mud with the first set.
