If you could choose between dying and going to Cleveland, which would you choose?

signaljammer: "I think his nickname was 'Sonic.'"

Nope, that would be Fred "Sonic" Smith of the MC5.

Dang. I knew he wasn't in the best of shape. Guy had a great set of pipes. Unfortunately, some of the better clips of the band that I've seen in the past have been pulled down.

Jann Wenner screwed the DC5 out of their R&RHOF spot last year. I hope he's happy.

I suspect his meter pegs out somewhere between "smug" and "self-satisfied" -- "happy" probably isn't on his scaly menu.

Amy Rigby, huh?

So, now they are the Dave Clark Four, huh?

Sadly, no. They're down to the DC3 now. The sax player died of cancer a little over a year ago.

He used to fill in for Paul on Letterman once in a while before he got hurt. Sad end to a great life...

Oh yeah, Amy is awesome. Fingers crossed, she'll be playing in our front room again later this year. With Wreckless Eric in tow...

Because...I'm dead?

I am the proud owner of every Dave Clark Five album...original vinyl. The HoF is a piece of crap anyway. RIP Mike.

Trying to talk her into coming through Asheville, too. The "Wreckless" angle cracked me up when I heard about it... "but Amy, he's not a DRUMMER!"

While the DC5 didn't have the lasting impact of the Beatles they made some classic pop tunes and were a welcome addition to my record collection. RIP

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is the lamest hall of fame there is. Over priced, badly organized, and physically unappealing, a triple let down.

spacebar 2008-03-01 05:39:40 PM
That's too bad. Maybe now Dave Clark will finally let their albums be re-issued.

I've worked in a couple record stores, the last one for ten years, and DC5 albums were by far the most requested unavailable catalog. Not even a greatest hits album available on cd. I didn't care either way but they have/had a lot of disappointed fans.

It's a shame because I'm sure the other band members could have used the money and/or recognition.
