Appetite for Destruction is one of the greatest rock albums ever made. And GnR ended the hair band craze, unlike the popularly believed Nirvana. After Appetite, everyone took their makeup off and cut the shiat.

The writing is typical blog BS, but the comments are pretty top shelf.

Gotta be some TF'ers in that bunch.

I don't think there's ever been a band that yo-yo's back and forth between "cool" and "incredibly uncool" like Guns n Roses.

Sometimes even on the same album. Use Your Illusion II, for example. That album has Civil War, 14 Years, and You Could Be Mine. Estranged and Yesterdays are ok, but the rest of that album may as well not even exist. Use Your Illusion I is almost perfect, aside from the Live and Let Die cover.

It's a great record except for Think About You. What pussy piece of shiat song.

What a great idea for a feature.

Pssssh. Rockworms wrote a review of Genesis' Invisible Touch last year.

/Much stronger album.

//Shiattier review though. Genesis Review (new window)

great feature, great site, but my god what a horrible, lame, unbelievably craptacular album by the lamest group in the history of rock.

How easy is it to pick one of the most popular albums of the last 20 years and review it? Most of that article was about the scene at the time, anyway and only a few paragraphs were devoted to the music... And how easy is it to pick apart a line or two from a song and call it cheesy?
But, here I am, reviewing a review...

You might not like GnR, or what Axl has done with himself in the last fifteen years, but Appetite is one of the greatest hard rock albums ever released. Like Mugato said, this is the album that woke everyone up from their aqua net and miss clairol induced comas.

And unlike the vast majority of their contemporary's efforts, the songs from Appetite stand up well today. Compare "Sweet Child O' Mine," or "Welcome to the Jungle" to any song from Motley Crue, Great White, Poison, Warrant or whoever else.

Umm. That was kind of the point of the song and video. It was trashing that entire scene on the strip: Everyone hiding behind the happy go-lucky party time rock of Poison et. al. while the really seedy underbelly was stirring and trying to rise to the top. That video was kind of the in-between state of manufactured winger/poison into something more menacing and viceral.

You are apparently not familiar with 99% of rock groups.

/Did not RTFA - got tired of the writer talking about himself

Off topic, but the only band with a name lamer than "Warrant" is "Winger"

Hah. Well, I think "Enuff Z'nuff" may have something to say about that.

I stand before you as a defeated man. Damn you and your "logic". This is Fark! Your fancy words and ideas have no place here! Bring on the pics of sharp kneed wenches sleeping with school children before I lose all faith in this site.
