One of the best guitar "orgasms" ever.

He always amazed me with his lead playing. His solo album I have is pretty different though.

One of the worst cases of guitar-face we've seen yet. He should be quarantined immediately

This version is much more fun.

Is that a Bowen tremolo on his LP ? I'm buying 2 of them next week to drop into my 335 copy and Vantage, replaces the tailpiece with no modifications.

Also, if you're going to butcher the harmonies, just shut up and don't bother singing, it'll sound better.

Just stopping by to say Journey sucks

Man, Steve Perry had an amazing voice. Schon is a fantastic lead GTR, as well.

I wish they would have used the considerable talents of their band to do something more ambitious rather than accumulating truckloads of cash, but, well...

Captain_Sissypants: No idea who the hell that is.

He's the guitar player for Journey. It is also worthy of note that it is Adrian Smith's (Maiden) 51st birthday today.

Always have to remind myself that Neal has been around forever, so it just seems like he'd be near 60. Started off playing with Carlos Santana when he was 16. Nice way to start a career. And he is a very good guitar player. Though thank god he got rid of his white man fro. His what you say? Watch this (pops)

Always thought he was the only member of Journey that I'd give a damn whether or not they ever recorded another note. Still can't figure out why he didn't just join a real band instead.

Neal is one of the best guitar players on the planet. He is melodic and very creative with all of his solo's let alone the songs themselves.

"Is that a Bowen tremolo on his LP?"

I'm not certain, but it sure looks like it. I never heard what kind of bridge he used before the Floyds.

Just for kicks, I looked the Bowen trem patent, and it was filed in 1982. Having a high-profile player using it on tour in 1981 makes sense to me (like Floyd Rose did with EVH).

/sure were a lot of crappy vibratos around at the time
//Rockinger or Flicker, anyone?

He has a handful of solo albums and collaborations (often with Jan Hammer), plus their Abraxas Pool album (Santana reunion sans Carlos) was absolutely awesome.

/Like many bands ruined by the addition of a pop singer, Journey once rocked.

Journey is up and down, but Schon has always kicked ass. Tasteful AND impressive. Nice posting (and I like the parody posting in this thread as well - funny!).

Steve Perry's voice is fantastic and the band is tight. One of the few times you go to a concert and it sounds like the album.

I came here to ask what kind of trem he was runnin' on the LP. I like his melodic playing. Bagged my first cougar to Steve Perry's solo album. Definition of "mixed feelings".
I'm more of a Kahler guy.

Just dropped in to say that was one hell of a display of keyboard virtuoisity by one Steve Perry.
