"Yeah, I’m a tramp, and who’s to blame? My father. A swell start you gave me. Ever since I was 14, what’s it been? Nothing but men! Dirty, rotten men! And you’re lower than any of them! I’ll hate you as long as I live!"

The three main characters of the novel are the Fat Man, the Lawyer, and the Demon. There's also a crawling bird and the Big Red Cheese.

"Do I seem to your tired Christian mind too utterly depraved? So be it. Both I and my father, Sweeley Leach, know a truth - that in these furious times we must appeal to what you consider the lowest part of your human nature because it is in that region that your highest human nobility has taken refuge. Until the spiritual revolution which is coming, you will - unless you are a member of the Children of the Remnant - remain staggering and baffled and choking in the brimstone pollution of this dying age."

For a while
the only earth that Sloopy knew
was in her sandbox.
Two rooms on Fifty-fifth Street
were her domain.
Every night she'd sit in the window
among the avocado plants
waiting for me to come home
(my arms full of canned liver and love).
We'd talk into the night then
contented
but missing something,
She the earth she never knew
me the hills I ran
while growing bent.

Sloopy should have been a cowboy's cat
with prairies to run
not linoleum
and real-live catnip mice.
No one to depend on but herself.

Kyosuke: Hitler, when he'd realized he should have forgotten Poland.

Wrong, it's from an American Animation or "Amerime" called 'The Simpsons'. I wouldn't have expected you to have heard about it though, it's only for the serious student of American culture.

I would but the accents are so distracting. I have a subtitled copy here somewhere, but I usually go with the dubbed version. I know, I suck, but hey.

I am more of a fan of BortSimps0nFan69's fandubs over at Amerime.net. He brings a sense of poetry to the translation that the people who run the TV clearly have missed when they chop them up for popular consumption here in my native land.

Peter Beagle, The Last Unicorn

I filled in the blank. It's semi-famous in SF circles.

"Slow red worms crawled along her arms and under her clothes. It tickles. That made her laugh until she screamed. 'Mad,' someone said, 'she's lost her wits,' and someone else said, 'Make an end,' and a hand grabbed her scalp just as she'd done with Jinglebell and she thought, No, don't. don't cut my hair."

If you have the book series in your profile, you can probably name the chapter I'm talking about.

/this isn't that obscure to some people either
//I'll get something more obscure later
