Why would I want to be owned by someone? And what do my pets have to do with it?

It's called Craigslist. Sorry little girl, you're number 2.

Hes the cutest dog, and I cant understand why some one just abandoned him out in the snow.

yeah, that's how we got our cute little dachshund-beagle-jackrussell-hyper-doggie via a dachshund rescue in kentucky.

still, kid is a hero anyway.

seriously, folks. don't get animals from breeders unless you're going to show them. you want a dog? check with a local shelter or rescue... dogs needs homes.

Here's a fun prank that I like to do. I go down to the animal shelter and pretend like I found my dog. Then I tell them to kill it anyways because I gave away all it's stuff.

Bob Ondeeznuts: When he's being bad I whisper in his ear "you're adopted".

I'm going to use that line. However, in our home it would be more along the lines of yelling over the noise of four dogs, "YOU'RE ALL ADOPTED!" They're always horsedicking around.

Athena is my dog now, but Max was adopted away. Both were fosters from the area animal shelter. If you want a dog but don't know if you'll be able to keep it in the future, fostering is a good move for everyone.

Got my first one from the shelter. A complete and total basket case. Previous owners really did a number on her. Still loved her to death. My second one came from a breeder, puppy, brand new and ready to learn.

I have no problem with breeders. It's the pet stores that are the cruel insufferable assholes you need to put out of business.

good work kid!

Although, I bet a lot more animals would find homes if they weren't so strict about who adopts them.

last year I applied to adopt a cat to keep my other cat company while I am at work. I was declined because I have a 2 year old and she might "pose a threat" to a cat, simply because she is 2.

Not to be critical, but wouldnt we be better off with fewer of similar sights? This is just going to make peoples searches even tougher, its a nice idea but its already been done..

The word you're looking for is "incomprehensible", not "critical". I count one spelling error, two three four apostrophes missing, and two problems terminating sentences.

I think what you are trying to ask is, "Wouldn't the world be better off without yet another pet relocation website?"

No, it wouldn't.

I adopted my kitty from a local vet clinic. Someone had brought him in after finding him in a trash can. The vet clinic patched him up and put up a notice on Craigslist saying that they had an adult male cat up for adoption.

I was initially hesitant because I wanted a female kitten, but the second I saw him I scooped him up. He's a flame-point siamese and he ensures that I always wear "white" clothes.

Good for you!
My other cat is half Siamese and I have never known a more independent animal. My girlfriend and I captured him after he was abandoned in a house that got foreclosed on. When we pulled him out we found he had a broken leg and was nothing more than skin draped over bones. We drove straight to a vet to have him euthanized given that he looked unsalvageable (and I have seen bad cases). When we got to the vet the screaming kitty got looked over and it turned out that the broken leg had knit (although totally wrong). The vet said that the cat was perfectly healthy other than that the leg would never work again and he needed to gain some weight, also he was probably eleven. Who in the world would adopt a lame elderly cat if we took him to the shelter? So we didn't.

trapped-in-CH: Or the dumb friends league (worst.name.evar)?

No, not really. From the Dumb Friends League site:

When our organization was founded in 1910, it was named after a London, England, animal shelter called Our Dumb Friends League. In those days, the term "dumb" was often used to refer to those who were unable to speak.
Although the term "dumb" is not generally used with that meaning today, we've kept our name, because it has significant recognition among Colorado residents.
The mission statement of the Dumb Friends League includes these words: "speaking for those who cannot speak for themselves," meaning our companion animal friends.
We are a private, nonprofit organization, and thanks to the support of many individual, foundation and corporate donors, we continue to make a big difference for the people and animals in our community and beyond.
