Actually, I was taking self-hypnosis childbirth classes. Never got to use them the way they were intended - baby was breech, my water was broken, and I ended up with a c-section. But, I did use it to calm myself during that whole course of events, and it made the experience a lot less frightening and gave me the chance to enjoy my baby's arrival.

The doctors & nurses were amazed at how calm I was and how quickly I recovered.

So... there is something to be said for mind over matter.

I think that her comment was taken out of context. I remember reading somewhere that during labor there is a flood of endorphins for women that mirrors what happens during an orgasm. The end result is that the pleasures centers help block some of the (overwhelming?) pain associated with the process.

I'm sure that this could possibly feel like an "O" for some women in the right circumstances.
