-1 to subby for missing the joke

+1 for the joke.

In fairness, I didn't see the video until after I read the article and submitted it. (youtube was down, as we all know) If you read the article, it doesn't give any reason to believe it was part of the joke, but none-the-less funny.

Watched the video, it was definitely part of the joke.

/So quit picking on me, I'm not the one who green-lighted it.
//Subby

I had a good laugh when I watched that last night. Huckabee might be a nutjob but he's a very funny nutjob.

Good job not getting it, submitter.

I think he'd make a poor President, but I think he's probably, overall, a pretty decent guy.

I liked when he played Air Hockey with Texas on the Colbert Report. Best candidate evar!

Submitter, you are an idiot. Really?

/loves the Huckster's personality, but would never ever vote for him.

BilltheThrill 2008-02-24 05:56:33 PM
I am pretty sure all he does now a days is mock himself on comedy shows. I knew he was out of it when he kept making walk-ins on Colbert all the time.

Mnemia 2008-02-24 05:58:42 PM
Having watched the video, I think that was an oblique reference to the lack of "class and grace" Hillary is showing right now by not exiting the race.

Huckabee is a likable nutjob. I just don't want him anywhere near the presidency.

LosinMySenses [TotalFark] 2008-02-24 05:59:12 PM
Huckabee is only funny because he is A joke.

Too bad if he was made President, he'd want to force everyone else to be a decent guy*, under penalty of law.

* unless your definition of "decent" varies from the conservative Christian one, that is

DanUFfan 2008-02-24 06:02:02 PM
Yes, subby is dumb.

SNL was pretty good last night. Loved the opening bit. Then Tina Fey showed up on Weekend Update. It just took a nose-dive into the crapper at that point.

gruntmints 2008-02-24 06:03:28 PM
Gotta give dickkead a bit of a break on this one. If indeed he did read the article and submitted but didn't see the video, then it's fully understandable that he didn't get the joke, and it's very apparent that whoever wrote that article for the Baltimore Sun did not get it either. So much so as to be a very epic fail

Awesome job AP for not getting it in the first place.

The Bestest 2008-02-24 06:06:13 PM
Leave subby alone!

I read a very similar article on CNN this morning which also failed to pick up on the fact it was part of the joke. Like the submitter, I also didn't get to watch the YouTube until now (from which I can plainly see it WAS staged).

OMGWTFBBQ HAZ NE1 MENSHUNED IT WUZ PART OV TEH SKIT YET?

SNL, which stretches every skit as long as they possibly can because that show has been in the crapper since they lost such greats as Sandler, Farley, Lovitz, Hartman, etc etc etc.

They've even turned the opening monologue into a skit and now show those 'digital shorts' every week, doing anything they can to fill their 1.5 hour time slot.

/just left a much more intelligent remark of this story at rawstory.com (p)
//they have the clip from "weekend update" if anyone wants to see it there

burndtdan 2008-02-24 06:13:01 PM
huckabee is a lot like bob dole... didn't really want him running things, but once that's out of the equation, he's a likable guy with a good sense of humor and not afraid of self parody.

just like bob dole, now that he doesn't have a chance at the white house, i kinda like him.

That seems to be the consensus among those who are not insane.

Knobbs 2008-02-24 06:13:16 PM
I laughed a LOT, just at Huckabee's delivery of "uh oh."

I really do like the guy, and 50% of what he says makes me think he'd be a fine president. The only problem is the other 50% directly contradicts the first 50%.

Falcc 2008-02-24 06:13:16 PM
I gotta say, I'd never vote for this guy, but it's hard not to like him. He's the kind of guy I'd like to have a drink with, or invite to a barbaque.. if I drank or wasn't a vegetarian. My point is he seems like a genuine person, he's got a great sense of humor, and he's done a wonderful job fracturing the Republican base. A good politician? Not so much.

shift_DAWG 2008-02-24 06:13:19 PM
DanUFfan: t just took a nose-dive into the crapper at that point.

Yeah, the immortal words of Krusty the Klown kept coming back to me in the final 1/3rd ... "actually, the last half hour is a real garbage dump!"

"My wife."

Longtime Lurker 2008-02-24 06:25:02 PM
Huckabee is funny to have around NOW that we're sure he's not going to be the president, but back when it was between him and Hillary leading the Iowa polls, it was rather frightening.

though to also give props where it's due, the guy has run an impressive campaign on VERY little money and has set a blueprint for future upset candidates... hopefully for ones who aren't crazy next time. Link (new window)

I like Mike. Not for President though. Like him even though he would probably point at me and call me a sinner, and his son may kill my dog. Not to mention he wants to take away my cigs and place me under ridiculous taxation. Besides all of that I really like........wait a second.

Fey is hottie, but while watching SNL on my new HDTV, I couldn't take my eyes off of that big assed scar next to her mouth. She's definitely hotter in low def.

I like that Huckleberry wants to amend the constitution to make it more in line with the bible. I want to see him laugh when he has to swear on a bible to uphold the constitution when he is sworn in. I think lightning might come out of his ass.

you know believe it or not, some of the most devout evangelicals are far more reasoned in spreading christianity than some dumb sheeple can be. (aka, Gee Dubya)

I highly doubt Huckabee would force you to do anything for most contentious issues, even on pro-life policies.

Ya know, he scares the hell out of me with his crazy fundamentalism, but I have to give Huckabee credit. Between SNL and the Colbert Report he's doing his best to reach out to the young voter demographic. And he's making fun of himself, something Grandpa McCain would never do.

/still voting for Obama

I admit I have a lower standard for "decent guy" than some people, also.
