He's still around? Come on man...everyone knows that the joke goes like this:

A biatchy woman, a black dude and a senile old fart are competing for president...

Go ahead, exit and let the joke commence.

I think that republicans should embrace this man. He represents everything that they stand for... why won't they give him a chance?

My theory is that they know the Democrats can't lose this one - GWB has given the Dems a big boost, and they have 2 electable candidates (though I never thought I would say that about those two last year). McCain has made himself such a thorn in the side of the GOP over the years, they're very content to let him wear it.

Look for Huckabee in '12.

But that's just my observation and speculation.

He'll probably start the show with a picture of an aborted slave-baby.

He was actually pretty cool on Colbert.

I disagree with him on every single issue - but I can respect him and he seems a decent guy. Who just happens to disagree with all I hold good and dear.

The simple-minded can often be nice, decent people. They can also be the backbone of lynch mobs. Just depends on time of day and the issue that they're fussy about.

In this respect, he reminds me of a used car salesman. But don't get lulled! He's sellin' a big bag o' stupid.

I don't really care who's president, just so long as they're not lacking in common sense. He fails that, or at least acts as though he does, so fark that guy.

Yes I'm referring to evolution.

That's my impression of him too. Nice guy, but I hope he never becomes president.

At least Dobson acts like who he is: a miserable, hateful little man who wants to return the USA to the dark ages. Huckleberry, on the other hand, misrepresents himself as this cool affable bass-playin', Colbert-hangin', SNL appearin' dude who charms people (many Farkers included, evidently) into thinking he is somehow NOT a carbon copy of Dobson and his ilk.

Huck has my vote for the most dangerous man in America for PRECISELY these reasons.

Noam Chimpsky 2008-02-23 10:25:02 PM
I back Huckabee because he's merely the second worst possible nominee for the Republicans. At least he's not a natural born citizen of Panama.

Two electable candidates? Really? From the beginning of the primaries everyone said Hillary was not electable, yet she's still in the running. That's a bad sign for the Democrats; a viable candidate would've won the primary easily, the way McCain swept through the Republican side.

I agree...mike huckabee is a great man. I wasn't too fond of him at first, but he isn't a loon like alot of evangelicals...very well spoken, very smart. Just an all-around good guy.

Dobson, like Huckabee, is a dominionist.

Really? All of them? Then why did so few Republicans actually vote for him?

Here's a thought: maybe the percentage of Republicans who voted for Huckabee is pretty close to the percentage of Republicans who think Mike Huckabee represents them.

Ya think?

Incontinent_dog_and_monkey_rodeo 2008-02-23 10:42:47 PM
I'm glad the Huckster exists simply because he shows up everything McCain ISN'T. By highlighting just how "UnRepublican" McCain is, he will cause fewer evangelicals to vote.

@tomhath:

Wouldn't having two democratic candidates who are viable mean that selecting from the two would require more deliberation?

I am fed up with the misrepresentation of the primary system -- using it to identify the preferred democratic candidate does not mean there is a fundamental divide in the party. It means we have options.
