Well, it takes a bar to write a recommendation.

I don't think closing bars will solve the binge drinking epidemic.

Always better to be pissed off than pissed on.

Noexit: Drink faster.

From what I hear that is exactly the problem they face currently. When you know the pub is closing soon and all the stores selling booze have long since closed you drink like a fiend while you have the chance. A solution I heard proposed a few years back was that the pubs would stop serving alcohol at the same time as usual but remain open for a while to let people sober up. Stop in at a Dennys in the US just before last call and watch people roll in as the neighborhood bars stop serving (hey its always cheaper to pick up a date that is already drunk).

Where is the irony tag?

It would actually be appropriate.

Like Florida, England has reached a point of earning it's own tag.

First they came for the smokers,
and I did not speak up because I was not a smoker
Then they came for the drinkers
and I did not speak up because I was not a drinker...

and so forth

Except that we're a country and not a state. Why not just get an 'America' tag? And then you'd have done away with all the funny tags. I prefer to know whether my Sun, Daily Fail, Telegraph articles are asinine or dumbass today =)

I see the "late license" goes until 1 AM according to TFA. I believe that's the earliest they close in any state in the U.S. (They range from 1 AM to 4 AM.) Aren't we supposed to be the puritanical ones?

/off to the bar at 11 PM
//4 hours of drinkin'

HoKr 2008-02-24 05:33:35 AM
Most traditional pubs still close around 11, it doesn't matter if they still have paying customers or not. I find that very strange myself.
