This doesn't sound that bad as long as they are kept refrigerated and then cooked when ordered, unlike the ones sitting around the 7-11 all day. How hard is it to cook a hot dog?

Mr. Programmer 2008-02-23 02:56:54 PM
huh, i buy nathans hotdogs in the vending machine at work sometimes, theyve had em for years

Mmm, push button, receive hot dog.

Srsly though, if you're out and about, and you really need a hot dog, why not just go to a street meat vendor? Or a fast food restaurant? Something about meat from a vending machine just doesn't sit well with me.

mudpants 2008-02-23 04:12:30 PM
I once got my hotdog stuck in a vending machine so I am getting a kick out of this...

I saw a cheeseburger "dispenser" inside a tavern once.

I wasn't brave enough to try one.

Nathan's hot dogs are some of the best farking hot dogs I've ever encountered. Now if they weren't so blasted expensive (~$5 for a pack of 8 normally)...

Hey subby, want to explain your logic behind the img1.fark.net tag?

Sound like a good idea to me. As a graduate student, I'd welcome a 24hr hot dog vending machine in my building.

\although I'm sure that Aramark wouldn't.
\\maybe then they'd stay open later.

If you read between the lines on the article. You would see the hot dogs are only for Jews.

kosher beef only comes from the front half of the cow.

We already have these (not Nathan's, just another brand) in the refrigerated vending machine at my work. There's hot dogs, hamburgers, and assorted sandwiches. I don't dare touch anything in there except for maybe the fruit or milk.

Navin: "Yeah, I got all this stuff from the old Cup 'o Pizza place before they tore it down."

Marie: "Good pizza."

Navin: "This is the best pizza in a cup ever. This guy is unbelievable. He ran the old Cup 'o Pizza guy out of business. People come from all over to eat this.... You know, you have beautiful skin. May I?"

Marie: "Yes."

Navin: "So smooth yet flexible."

I personally love my coffee and my chicken noodle soup to come out of the same spigot...

/further analysis of word "Spigot" thanks to dictionary.com

Spigot [spig-uht]
1. a small peg or plug for stopping the vent of a cask.
2. a peg or plug for stopping the passage of liquid in a faucet or cock.
3. a faucet or cock for controlling the flow of liquid from a pipe or the like.

Kosher foods are in demand. Looks like someone is about to serve a market need (or at least take a shot at it).. Nathans has a market image of being a wholesome product.. they are very unlikely to do anything that might damage that image. Just for fun pull the d&b on Nathans.. they are not a small or foolish company.

I would move back there in a heartbeat.

I've seen the vending machine hot dogs at the airport (BWI in Maryland) and Lowe's hardware stores. I was surprised enough to take two pictures with my cellphone camera at the airport:

i28.tinypic.com

There were little bins in the machine containing mustard, relish, and ketchup packets too (yes, Chicagoans, I said ketchup).

I don't see whats wrong with this. How is it any different than buying hot dogs from a street vendor. Probably safer too, considering how these machines have to be inspected and all.

Can you say paid advertising? I've been buying hotdogs out of a vending machine for years.

If I'm at work & I want a hot dog, I'll just walk the couple of blocks to the nearby A & W & get not only a foot long hot dog, but big mug of A & W root beer. There are hot dogs in our workplace vending machines, but A & W's are better.
