...the liberalpolitical agenda preys on weakness and feelings of inferiority in the population by:

creating and reinforcing perceptions of victimization;
satisfying infantile claims to entitlement, indulgence and compensation;

augmenting primitive feelings of envy;

rejecting the sovereignty of the individual, subordinating him to the will of the government.

Fixed it for him

By the same reasoning, just about anyone who identifies rigidly with just about any of the many -isms and -ologies floating around in the world is clinically whacky.

As nearly as I can tell, liberals live up near de headwaters of de blue nile, conservatives up near de source of de red nile.

Isn't raging against imaginary villians the conservatives gig?

Homosexuality
Abortion
Islamofacism
Evolution
Stem Cells

I don't see too many liberals with such vitriolic rage at those targets. Also kind of funny since the only way to combat most of those things is to run the lives of people perfectly competent to run their own.

On the other hand... I guess Political Correctness is the brainchild of liberalism. So maybe both sides of the aisle have their imaginary foes.

Glass houses, throwing stones, yadda yadda.

The communists used to lock people up in mental hospitals because they wanted to flee the 'communist paradise' that was the soviet union. Now what passes for conservatism wants to do the same to lefty liberals?

I want my ideology back. I look at these people and I wonder where they hell they came from and how can I stuff them back under their rock.

BTW, World Net Daily is being misleading. I'm sure that's a shock to most of you.

Their headline reads:
"Top psychiatrist concludes liberals clinically nuts
Eminent psychiatrist makes case ideology is mental disorder"

This psychiatrist is an unknown who makes his living doing expert testimony work. Basically, he's a guy that sells his opinion at trial to the lawyer who's willing to meet his fee.

Like elysive implied, there are far more professionals in the mental health community who hold one of the countering views (not necessarily that "conservatives are insane", probably more along the lines of "both sides are insane" or "both sides are capable of insanity"). And those professionals at least have credentials to be doing so. This guy... His CV is laughable. 3 scholarly publications since 1966, two of them for a county bar association on depression. Whoopty-f*cking-do.

I really wonder how it happened. When we started, or rather when I started, being a conservative meant lower taxes, LESS government, and that the US constitution was respected. Individual rights were paramount and anything that got in the way of individual achievement was a Really Bad Thing.

Nowadays tho, we have 'conservatives' running around saying that waterboarding is ok, eminent domain seizures are 'for the greater good' and that if we don't let the government wiretap anyone anywhere anytime for anything that some low tech band of cave dwelling desert nomads will blow up the ocean. Or something. I'm not really sure why we have to wiretap citizens here to stop people over in afghanistan.

Anyway, i'm somewhat confused about this turn of events.

This sounds like it was written in response to similar works about conservatives. Just entitle the book, "I know you are but what am I?" and be done with it.

Weaver95: Anyway, i'm somewhat confused about this turn of events.

You have to realize that the Republicans (on the national level, at least) stopped being conservatives (little "c") a long time ago. They just forgot to tell anyone. Sure, they are still use socially conservative wedge issues to get out the Christian vote but they threw out all of that other stuff long ago. The only way that they will go back to their old ways is if they take a major hit in the next election.

it started quite frankly, when the republican party started appealing to the religious right for votes. These people didn't give a damn about small government as long as gays couldn't marry, people couldn't have safe abortions, evolution wouldn't be taught in schools, etc. In other words, they wanted to enforce their morality on the country.
If the republican party of the 50's and 60's had stuck to their beliefs instead of just trying to get as many votes as possible, we'd all be a lot better off.

I think there are some serious flaws in the information on which this doctor made his conclusions.

You know very well how this turn of events came about. Conservatives are associated in people's minds with the GOP, and the GOP has been hijacked by people who call themselves conservatives, but are no more conservative than Michael Moore. They are authoritarian control freaks, and the wiretapping has little if anything to do with "terrorism". Terrorism is just what's being used to sell their product, like Bush used bogus intel to sell the Iraq invasion.

I am amazed that people who wouldn't fall for a Nigerian email scam are falling for this.

Liberals merely project their problems onto others. They have no actual plan for their utopian fantasies, they just want your money to pay for it. Whatever it is.

Liberalism is a mental disease cured by a good dose of pragmatic common sense. Once a child starts to adopt liberal ideas, their parents should recognize this and put the child to work.
