They should start a group which will attack McCain's war-record as being grossly inflated, if not outright false.

Two years ago I had a lot of respect for McCain, I still do but only when i think of the McCain of yesteryear.

Just proves that Republicans have the defiition of "straight" wrong in relation to both honesty and sexuality.

There was some group in the 90's that accused McCain of being a Manchurian Candidate.

Seriously, the only straight-talking Republican who actually addresses issues, who was acknowledged by Giuliani as the winner of all the debates, gets blackballed by the media, snickered at by candidates from his own party, and the brain-dead sound-bite crowd cheers.
And THIS flip-flopping, 100-years-in-Iraq lunatic is the best that the Republicans can do for a candidate?

I'm not a RP supporter but i thought he owned them in the debates.

I don't think that his supporters will chant "flip flop" while flapping their arms like residents at a group home for assisted living.

But he will use the inconsistent statements, as he rightly should.

I thought it was funny as hell when Giuliani tried to slam him over his comments about the 9/11 attacks, unaware that Paul was quoting directly from the 9/11 Commission Report. RP then sent "the 9/11 Mayor" a copy of the report, so that he could actually read it.

I respect McCain for his service to this country in the military, as one should...

But damn, I can't stand the lying, stuck-up, brainless fool, and do not want him for President. We already had too many years of that.

I lost respect for him several years back when he voted for a bill (that passed) denying student loans for anyone who has been convicted of a drug charge. I even wrote him to not support such a bill. He just does not believe in giving anyone a chance to better themselves after a mistake.

I think he's damaged goods. They screwed up his mind while he was a prisoner. They may have implanted things in his mind. I bet he would snap within two days after taking the oath. We know Bush did two minutes after he took the oath to defend the Constitution.

Yeah man, Ron Paul.
Damn straight.

Oh the irony... Did you even watch the video clip you linked to? You are the one with the preconceived notions. He was being facetious - they laughed when he said it, because, as your LAT clip points out, Giuliani was referring to how Paul "won" the debates due to the text message votes sent by Paulites. (The video in both your links is even called "Giuliani gets last stab @ Ron Paul before quitting 1/29/08.")

However, I'm sure you'll just repeat the same nonsense in the next thread. It's your MO. You just ignore the facts that weaken any point you're trying to make.

Because him saying RP won thd debate fits your preconceived notions. That's why you interpret it this way.

Donald_McRonald: because, as your LAT clip points out, Giuliani was referring to how Paul "won" the debates due to the text message votes sent by Paulites.

1.) there was no clip in the LAT article.
2.) Giuliani was poking fun at the debunked "call in" debate scam. Or do you honestly believe that there were a handful of supporters, each with thousands of cell phones? Yeah, you probably do. You probably also believe that this handful of supporters had a couple hundred bucks between them, and found a way to clone it into twenty million.

However, I'm sure you'll just repeat the same nonsense in the next thread. It's your MO. You just ignore the facts that weaken any point you're trying to make.

And that's what you're doing right here. "You keep repeating the same nonsense blablabla...".

BKITU: Because him saying RP won thd debate fits your preconceived notions. That's why you interpret it this way.

Actually it's because I WATCHED the debates, and Paul was the only one with solid answers to real issues while others were mouthing platitudes and sound bites. But have it your way, junior.

Then again, you're not exactly known as a paragon of rational thought around these parts.

I'll take that as a compliment. Now skidaddle on back to your herd.

Good point.

Why is it that any time I see the McCain hugging Bush picture I think, "I love you, food." Has Fark really warped my mind that badly, or is that a combo-meme that has been going around?

HowlingFrog

I've been reading your posts so far and you've managed to be so brutally factually inaccurate that I had to respond.

HowlingFrog: acknowledged by Giuliani as the winner of all the debates

No he wasn't, you moron. Jooleeawhnee was obviously joking about those "text in your winner" things where RP won all of them. I am not surprised that this went over your head.

HowlingFrog: I thought it was funny as hell when Giuliani tried to slam him over his comments about the 9/11 attacks, unaware that Paul was quoting directly from the 9/11 Commission Report. RP then sent "the 9/11 Mayor" a copy of the report, so that he could actually read it.

Actually, if you are referring to the "I hope the Congressman will take back those comments" debate moment, RP was blaming 9/11 on the Gulf War and subsequent enforcement of their no fly zone, which was quoting directly from Bin Laden, not our government. Again, not surprised that you would get the two confused. Does anyone here think that Bin Laden's excuses for declaring jihad in the 90s are at all valid? Do you really think it is acceptable that a presidential candidate would blame 9/11 on probably the most obviously justifiable war since WW2?

I guess we should go back and time and prevent 9/11 by following RP's advice, which is to let the Kuwaities get slaughtered and appease Saddam as he starts to eye Iran again. Except, Iran would already be under his control because we wouldn't have interfered in their 80s war either. Maybe I should give Ron Paul the benefit of the doubt though; maybe he was just saying "9/11 was a consequence of doing exactly the right thing", which is just such a powerful point to make at a debate. But no, I doubt it, because RP is on record against the Gulf War and all other Middle East interference of the last 30 years or so. It's obvious he was trying to say that our foreign policy got us hit and he wouldn't make the same "mistakes".

People capable of rational thought rejected Ron Paul immediately following that moment.

HowlingFrog: Donald_McRonald: Besides, I thought Giuliani as a lying sack of shiat?

He is. But why would he lie about that, and then endorse Rommney?

Am I reading this wrong, or are you seriously suggesting that Jules endorsed Romney? Where do you get your information? Kos?

HowlingFrog: Giuliani was poking fun at the debunked "call in" debate scam. Or do you honestly believe that there were a handful of supporters, each with thousands of cell phones? Yeah, you probably do. You probably also believe that this handful of supporters had a couple hundred bucks between them, and found a way to clone it into twenty million.

What on earth are you rambling on about? RP got the highest %s because he is the anti war candidate, and all the anti war people called in to vote for him! Is this THAT hard to understand?

pocketrubbish 2008-02-23 05:19:16 PM

You do realize the reason Saddam was in power and had to means to invade kuwait was because we supported him so much in the Iran-Iraq war, right? And even then we were also selling weapons to the Iranians.

History isn't selective based on whatever you're trying to prove.

What on earth are you rambling on about? RP got the highest %s because he is the anti war candidate, and all the anti war people called in to vote for him! Is this THAT hard to understand?

So the pro war people couldn't be bothered to vote? Or are there no pro war people? What are you trying to say?

People capable of rational thought rejected Ron Paul immediately following that moment.

By rational thought, you surely mean kneejerk reactions?

prjindigo 2008-02-23 10:02:15 PM
Lemme tell you the difference between the Office of President and being "a representative"

A "representative" votes whatever their constituency wants.

A President tells them STFU, NPFY, GBTW and votes what's right.

Fart_Machine: There was some group in the 90's that accused McCain of being a Manchurian Candidate.

His own people, I believe. Another example of the Karl Rove playbook.

That, along with the "fathered a black baby" series of stealth calls, is why I can't respect McCain. His own party did that to him, yet he still gives them his blind allegiance.
