From what the Internet tells me, President Bush lost two motorcycle cops: one in Hawaii (that one I remember) and one in New Mexico.

There was a motorcycle cop killed in one of Ted Kennedy's motorcades about 35 years ago. I think he also hit a curb. His son is trying to get a monument built to honor his father's service. I understand the sentiment, but... there have been plenty of cops, firefighters and soldiers killed in this area since then. Not one has a monument.

That Houston St Viaduct is kind of like the log ride at six flags.
The lanes are narrow. Probably hard to ride side by side Ponch and John style.

George W is up by one, then. There have been TWO police officers killed while escorting his motorcade.

I be hatin' on the HRC, but I must admit she followed through (cancelled rally, called widow and police chief, went to hospital to visit with officer's family) quite well.

At least it was more than she did with Vince Foster's family......

These guys are required to speed from one intersection, ramp, ect. to the next to keep ANY motorcade moving at a speed safe from any attack, accident, ect. It IS a dangerous assignment.
BTW, it was shorter and smaller then when VP came to town to talk up the war on our local right wing nut radio show a few months back. The Dallas taxpayers picked up the bill on that one, about 30 big....

Avoid motorcades in Dallas.

What I want to know is, why/how did he lose his helmet? That's never supposed to happen, ever. Are those duck-bill visors permanently attached? That would be a bad idea, as well as a violation of DOT FMVSS 218 regs.
