Who the fark stalks Linkin Park? So some girl whines about her life and listens to Linkin Park whine about their lives, so she falls in love when them and whines because she is a loser and can't have them. So she stalks them. Even if she got close they would just sit there and whine about being stalked while she sat there and whines about her life. It would be a big whine fest and everybody would whine and make crappy music.

Calling anybody in Linkin Park a "Rockstar" is an insult to every hotel room trashin, coke-snortin, hard rockin badass out there. I know they get played on "rock" stations... but it's just another sign of the suckage that dominates the industry right now.

/End of rant.

Linkin' Park... All thier songs sound the same.

Or sound like direct rip offs of other artists. That new "slow" song of thiers sounds JUST like U2. (except it sucks).

Jness [TotalFark] 2008-02-21 11:05:53 AM
I'll admit, I was a huge fan of Hybrid Theory (bought it at Target for $7.99 the week before "One Step Closer" took off huge and doubled the price!) and I love Reanimation (my first real foray into hip-hop, sad I know) but now I can't imagine enjoying their new stuff at all. Helps that I've got into harder music (SYL indeed, Iced Earth, Opeth, Machinehead...) so LP's cookie-cutter-with-distortion just doesn't cut it anymore.

Still enjoy their old stuff, if I'm ever in an emo mood.

And I hope all you guys whining about how music sucks these days know that you sound just like your parents did when they bashed on your music.

Now go tell those LP listening whippersnappers to get off your lawn.

LP is mediocre pop music, your analogy indicates there's something different or extreme about their music that people (parents) just don't understand (like when Jimi innovated a new guitar sound, or when Kiss popularized shock-rock and glam-rock).

Nothing LP has done is innovative or shocking -- they simply are the most successful at combining already popular genres and styles. For that they deserve at least some respect, just not the "ZOMG they're so cutting-edge original and innovative and you just don't get it!"

/LP isn't bad, just boring

RaKellaKAT 2008-02-21 12:09:10 PM
My parents didn't bash "my" music, because I grew up in the 90s, when there was a lot of good, solid, innovative rock and rap to be had. And many of us also listened to our parents' music (60s and 70s rock) because it was good.

Linkin Park, however, is offensively bad. The aughts are the new 80s in terms of (non-ironic) terrible music.

/sigh. arguing on the interwebs.

Has anyone but me taken one look at Hibno's rant about whining, then a look at the entirety of this thread, and then laughed their ass off?

shiat music is still shiat music no matter when it was made. Linkin Park is just the modern day Rick Astley bubblegum-pop-bullshiat.

I came for The Dev references. I was only slightly disappointed.

mooseyfate 2008-02-21 01:14:26 PM
I remember watching that Live Earth concert thingy a few months back, and they went live to Linkin Park about to play their newest single, a little song called "Bleed It Out" or something like that. I groaned and I reached for the remote, but it had already started and I thought to myself, "Hmmm...It's a little boring, but I think this song has potential when they pick it up and thrash out with the guitars". So I waited...and I waited for that pick up, that part in the song where any half-way decent "Metal" band would flick the switch and just really started riffing and making me want to bang my head...

But that moment just never came. It just kept repeating that same lame, boring, uninspiring guitar "riff". I just wanted to reach through the screen and punch the guitar players and scream, "DO YOUR farkING JOB, ASSHOLES! You're supposed to be a rock band!". That song could've been awesome. But instead it was just as mediocre as every other LP song.

He had to fall to lose it all ?

Well in the end it doesn't really matter....

I don't know. In terms of pop music: certainly. Lots of good underground stuff now and in the 80s, though. I think the mainstream stuff you're hearing now is just the death knell of that corporate bullshiat.

I gotta admit to an N*Sync song or two in my collection, but I hope you're right. Though, maybe it will lead to a new renaissance of good music, the way the 80s did to the 90s.

I think you're seeing some of it right now with bands that wouldn't have gotten big only a few years ago getting a lot more mainstream attention (i.e. Arcade Fire. Not really my thing, but could you have imagined them getting as big as they are during the reign of nu-metal and boy bands?)

whitefalcon79 2008-02-21 02:25:45 PM
I liked the headline. And Linkin Park's first album was great while I was in that angry-at-the-world phase but since I grew up, they have mostly sucked. "No More Sorrow" is a great piece of music, though (without the lyrics)... sounds extra awesome when played at full volume during the warm-up skate at Coyotes games.

vevolis 2008-02-21 03:31:07 PM
Ok... so... this happened many, many months ago. There was a 5-6 page article on it... then it was on TV about identity theft... months ago. Freaking reporters.

Hybrid Theory and Meteora are good albums.

Minutes To Midnight sounds like a completely different, no where near as good band. No More Sorrow is good though.

Anyway, I read the story about this chick a while ago and wanted to slap her.

/Saw them live at Bamboozle last year.

That's all I the evidence I need to know that they suck hard.

No actually it was out of complete respect for the band.
We wanted to see them perform not watch behind us the whole time to avoid concussions...the crowd was moving, believe me... but it was moving in place.

This. Any rock/metal concert I go to, I expect to walk out having gotten and given bruises. That's just the way it works. Christ, even the Dave Matthews Band has some pretty hardcore moshers at their shows.

I try not to state opinions as fact. And normally when I trash something, I will remind people that it is just my opinion.

Linkin Park is the exception. If you can say that you like them, and actually mean it, then there is no hope for you to ever have good taste.
