Yeah, the cover of his solo album was included in the most recent Playboy I just got, it's that time of year for them to do a music mash up, or some shiat.

In other news Eddie Vedder still alive. I thought for sure the guy would off himself.....

Well, I guess i know why he chose not to go to bonnaroo this year

this would have been cool if this were 1993

Are Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam still relevant? More importantly, were they ever relevant?

Are you trolling for PJ fans?

I thought that was an obscure 'The Castle' reference. Apparently not.

On another note my cousins friend Liam Finn is opening for Eddie Vedder. I feel pretty famous myself right now.

The chorus to "Big Hard Sun" makes me feel all stabby inside. At least, to his credit I guess, he didn't write it himself.

Liam's record is amazing. I saw him open up for his dad in the summer and he was beyond amazing. Farking genius. Apple...tree and all that.

/I will stop gushing now.

If I hear that song one more time, I won't be responsible for my actions.

Without a solo album, not so much.

Saw him at Camp A Low Hum, was awesome. Cool guy as well, he stayed around, getting stoned and drunk with the rest of us...

wow... i thought there'd be a lot of support here on this one. I mean, i'm as cynical as they come, but Vedder seems like a pretty cool dude...

I just got a presale notice for tickets. Um, it was from Ticketbastard. Wasn't he the one who fought endlessly against ticketbastard? Well the tickets are $68.50 each through that crappy ass ticket agency if you need them.

I remember when tickets would be $10-$15. Now that's just the convenience fees. And I'm not even that old.

PJ settled that. Now, since LiveNation owns just about every venue and contract exclusively with TM, if you want to play a venue, you must do your sales through TM.

Don't get me wrong I'm a big fan of Pearl Jam, but I didn't care much for his solo soundtrack. And the other guys in Pearl Jam are far more necessary to its success than most will give credit for. This is probably why Vedder has never gone solo in the first place, his songs are never the best on their albums.

Still a good singer though, and I have a lot of respect for the guy.

Exactly THIS.

I too received the pre-sale notice, but I don't feel like going all the way to Berkeley or Santa Cruz, paying $70 and only seeing Vedder by himself.

/Mike and Stone rule.

I would eat vedder shiat and follow him into hell. I live in Mn and almost want to fly out for a day just to see him.

FAR BEHIND!!!!

He needs to come to the east coast. I'd buy tickets in a heartbeat, and help him work on "Society" so it's no longer a chorus of sophomoric lyrics which are painful to listen to.

"Society" is a cover song. orginally written by Jerry Hannan.

These days Eddie writes almost all of the PJ material and has for quite some time...He has probably written the bulk of the songs since Vitalogy.

While he writes the bulk of the lyrics, the songs themselves are split all around the band. Gossard writes a lot of songs, Ament and McCready always have a few on albums, and even Cameron writes songs now. Why do you think they called their latest album just "Pearl Jam"? Because its possibly the most democratic record they've ever made as far as the contributions.

I know nobody will read this, but you are wrong. On the latest record the others contribute, but Eddie wrote most of lyrics and music.

Actually, PJ is one of those rare bands that actually share the song writing duties.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pearl_Jam - check toward the bottom of the page; there are links to each album that list writing credits. Vedder is listed on almost every track for writing the lyrics. But, the songs are written by everyone in the band (even their crazy part-time keyboardist gets credit on the new album).

I think this process lends itself to the vast differences between all of their albums.

To me, they are a one of a kind band. Every album is new and a departure from the previous one. It's not good for marketing, especially when one or two of your albums are a huge commercial success.

But, I love every one they've released :)
