I like the sad ladies in the picture are mourning a "Tammy"...must have been a lot of those at a great white concert

labman [TotalFark] 2008-02-20 02:38:32 PM
Since the article is talking about the survivors, I don't think they got all of them. At least, not yet.

Oh... and they headline forgot to say it was 'Jack Russell's Great White'

They almost killed me when I was driving down an Arizona highway.

The first time I heard "Mista Bone" on the radio I laughed myself into a ditch. Thankfully, it was in the middle of the desert.

So a minute after reading this thread, XM 80s starts playing Great White. That's some timing.

I am sick and tired of hearing about this. The victims' families seem like a bunch of attention-addicted leeches, happily suing anyone who had anything to do with the accident.

Let. It. Go.

LOL! You did indeed fix it for me. I'll consult you for future headline submissions hence forth.

That aside, I drove by the site the other day and I'm wondering when the crying stops and that land gets developed. It's in a prime location for a small business. I'm all for memorials and I know one is now planned for that site but how long is long enough?

There was a herd mentality there, wasn't there? More people died because they all went for one teeny little exit, while another one stood there unused throughout the whole thing?

Or something.

That was some horrible sh*t, regardless.

HoratioGates 2008-02-20 04:57:15 PM
Would people go to their show if they had another one, or would they be once bitten, twice shy. Actually, as hair bands went, they had some decent bluesy riffs. They could go on tour with Metallica and Michael Jackson for a pyrotechnics free concert tour. Back stage Michael could molest little boys and Lars could molest people trying to download the concert for free. If my band ever makes it big we're going to stick to a laser show.

Only five years? For some reason I though this happened during the Clinton Era. Maybe it's because I lump Great White in with White Lion and Warrant and try to keep them in the early 90's where they belong.

Gina Russo's head was seared down to the skull, her body pocked by third-degree burns, her future consumed by painful skin grafts and guilt over having survived The Station nightclub fire when her fiance had not.

These are the best Great White lyrics I've ever read.

MattyFridays 2008-02-20 05:02:48 PM
I'm not blaming the victims. They are entitled.

Burn victims who live are probably the worst victims ever. Imagine being horribly disfigured like that where people recoil in horror of you? And still having all your facilities to realize why people are so horrified?

The people involved are allowed to sue the club, the radio station, the band, and the foam-maker. (Plus I think the city is being sued as well)

It's not attention whoring.

Besides, Great White lost a band member, the radio station lost a DJ. A lot of shiat happened that night.

I think the causes of death from this were crushing, the actual fire, and smoke inhalation.

They were more of a leftover 80's hair band. Their biggest hit came when I was in high school in the late 80's. I don't think they even had a hit in the 90's.

Gunny Highway 2008-02-20 05:05:23 PM
I was driving home the night this happened and the entire police force from my town went screaming past me. Needless to say i was curious so i went home to watch the news. I got a phone call form all my aunts and uncles because "they know i like music and were scared i was there". A mixture of rage and embarrassment came over me at such an accusation. I later found out that lots of people i knew followed the police and watched the place, and some people, burn to the ground. They do have a pretty nice memorial every year at Goddard Park which i have attended. The whole situation is pretty sad. Oh yea nice headline subby

(How many? like 12 people?)

It will take a while before another rock band achieve a feat of that magnitude

See, no one needs stupid government bodies deciding for them what they can or can't do on their PRIVATE property.
If they want to have fireworks in a crowded, enclosed space with doors that open towards the inside, that's their right as owners of the property.

A few hundred dead here and there, that's a reasonable price to pay for property rights.

I recently heard an interview with Dee Snyder (Twisted Sister), he talked about an annual tribute concert that gives proceeds to the families of the survivors of the fire. It appears that a lot of those people (dealing with long term effects of burns etc.) don't have insurance to pay for the coverage they need. Make fun of the mullet but some of those who were in that fire do need help and can't really "Let. It. Go." as you like to put it.

/yeah I know buzzkill but that side of it needed to be said.
//Also guys like Dee Snyder and the other bands involved deserve kudos for trying to help those people out.

dave2198 2008-02-20 05:09:30 PM
And 5 years later, the families are still trying to find people they can blame (sue).

I bet Exxon supplied some gas stations with gasoline which was then sold to some of the fans, allowing them to go to this concert and die!

THEY SHOULD HAVE SEEN THIS COMING!
