Whats the over/under odds on a hit???

The Gunner's Mates on board just love a live shoot, its the only time they get to do anything for real at sea other then field day the mags all the time.

Okay, so I've come up with a Q&D version of what's gonna happen (sorry that it got rescaled):

i199.photobucket.com

The Columbia debris line is added in for comparison. Basically, if they actually do this right, nothing much is gonna happen to anyone. Hell, it's approximately 2700 miles down-range from Seattle, so it'd have to stay up a helluva long time to make that happen....

Blu ray is more likely.

I meant high-def in general. I would actually prefer Blu-ray.

The whole mission is sponsored by Pepsi and Monster.com, so there will be a decent HD feed and commentary by Marv Albert.

The stricken spy satellite marked for destruction by US warships will pass over the taped-off area just at this time, indicating that the first shot will take place then.

Are they gonna use police tape?

This is a NOTAM (notice to airman) for the high-powered radar system which is in the process of being towed to track both the satellite and the debris field which is going to be left over from vehicle destruction.

RADAR SYSTEM WILL BE OPERATING IN THE VICINITY OF 2700N/16300W. THE

"US Aegis air-defence warships, the cruiser Lake Erie"

Ok - I grew up in Erie, PA.

If there really is a US Navy ship, let alone an Aegis rig named "Lake Erie"...

Trust me.

When they press the launch button the only thing that will happen is some rust will flake off the launch console and drift lazily down to the dust coated deck.

No.

Seriously.

The missile is actually going to "go out of control" and crash into Pakistan, killing Osama Bin Laden.

I am looking forward to this. We will see if the Aegis is all it's cracked up to be. I'm still in the dark, however, as to where the debris is expected to fall. The shot is still at a fairly high altitude and there is a good deal of inertia involved...

The Sea Based X-band (SBX) RADAR does not need towing. It moves under it's own power.

\Just saying.
